ACFA 15th Annual Convention It was GREAT!
15th Annual Convention Service Information Fellowship Education President's Message Mark Duncan Greetings Fellow ACFA Members & Friends! What a fantastic time we had at the 15th annual ACFA Convention down at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach! We had a lot of new faces this year in addition to long time attendees and to everyone who attended, it was great seeing you and to those that could not, we sure missed you and hope to see everyone at the Perdido again next July! Special thanks go out to our Associate members whose generous sponsorships help make conventions such as this possible and we were very blessed to have record sponsorship donations this year. I truly believe that this year's conference was one of the best to date and we look forward to improving upon it for next year! It was our pleasure to have as our special guests from the Alabama Legislature: State Representative Craig Ford & wife Gwen and State Representative James Buskey. We were also privileged to be joined once again by the General Counsel of the Alabama Department of Insurance Reyn Norman & wife Helen, ACFA Counsel Paul Compton, and retired ACFA Vice President Richard Harris all with us. It was also great having Tom Hudson speak at our meeting and to have Chris Mitchell & Matt Dial with Acceptance Loan and their families along with Shane Turner with Security Finance join us as ACFA convention guests this year. We cherish our friendships made with these folks over the years as well as meeting new friends and look forward to continuing our relationships in the future. I also wish to express appreciation to the membership of the ACFA for having the confidence to elect me as President for the coming year. I look forward to working with our Officers, Board of Directors, and all of our member companies and supporters in continuing to improve our Association for the betterment of our membership and our industry.

ACFA 15th Annual Convention It was GREAT!
It Was GREAT! Our mission statement is Service Information Fellowship Education and at the 15th Annual Convention we accomplished all of those goals. We had great speakers: Reyn Norman, Department of Insurance, spoke to us about the 12 legislative bills that were passed this session that were related to insurance products; insurance license fees were raised and discussed the importance of insurance in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, building better homes and retrofitting homes with better roofs and how to qualify for a reduction in homeowners insurance. Tom Hudson, Hudson Carter, LLP spoke to us about the CFPB, information that we all need in order to work within this system, information that we all need in order to make our companies and our policies bullet proof and information about the mind set of the CFPB. Paul Compton, Brant Arrant Bold Cummings spoke to us about the disparate impact statistics, about making better business decisions and protecting yourself from lawsuits as a result of those decisions. Representative Craig Ford & Representative James Buskey were with us and spoke about some issues related to the 2015 legislative session and the special session called by the Governor. We held our Annual Business Meeting and elected new officers and directors and awarded scholarships. A very busy convention!

Helen Brothers / Beth Harris Memorial Scholarships Awarded Five Scholarships Awarded We all understand the value of higher education and also understand the ever increasing cost of higher education. ACFA was able to award five Helen Brothers/ Beth Harris Memorial Scholarships this year! Going a long way to help these worthy students in their college careers.
Hannah Hicks Hayle Neal Hannah Aman Lindsey Davis Kelli Giles This scholarship was established to honor two wonderful women, wives of ACFA members Helen Brothers and Beth Harris. Helen Brothers is the deceased wife of our first ACFA President, Glenn Brothers, a outgoing golfer, grandmother, world traveler and a proud employee of the Southern Company, she enjoyed young people and was a mentor for those youths trying to achieve their very best. Beth Harris is the deceased wife of Richard Harris, a ACFA Vice President and member of the Board of Directors. Beth was a dynamic woman who encouraged those young folk around her to work hard for their dreams and reach for the stars! Both would be pleased with these five outstanding winners of this years scholarship funds!

The Alabama Consumer Finance Association presented to J. Richard Harris,retired, Southern Management Corporation, the Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to the installment lending industry, and his service to the ACFA! Congratulations Richard!
Don Gowen Lender of the Year Award Presented posthumously to Marshall Willingham Marshall Willingham entered the printing industry in 1987 when he began work as a Sales Representative for Attaway, Inc. His friendly demeanor and optimistic personality made him a natural n the sales field. However, it was when he sold his first Consumer Finance customer in 1997 that Marshall found his true calling. Marshall dedicated his career to offering print solutions for Consumer Finance companies. He made it a priority to learn as much as he could about the Consumer Finance industry so that he could assist his customers with the best products. Along the way, he also made many close friends from those same customers. During his career, Marshall was active in the Alabama Consumer Finance Association, Georgia Industrial Loan Association, and Independent Consumer Finance Association of South Carolina. Marshall looked forward each year to these associations' annual conferences because he knew he would not only learn more about the industry and his customers' needs but also be able to catch up with friends. Marshall was a wonderful coworker and friend to everyone at Attaway, Inc. He also was a friend to the community of Anderson, SC. Marshall was deeply involved in Sertoma, Service to Mankind for over twentyeight years. He was a member of the Anderson Sertoma Club and was past South Carolina State Director of Sertoma, Carolina West Region International Director, and served three years as District Governor. In 2008, he was named Regional Sertoman of the Year and was the recipient of the President's Lifetime Service Award in 2009. He was Atlantic Coast Region "Most Outstanding Governor" for the year 20132014. He served on the Camp Sertoma Board of Directors for over 21 years. Marshall is remembered as a positive, hardworking man who loved life and those around him.
