September 10, 2017 Hello Quilting Friends, This Saturday, September 16th quilt appraiser Cheri Picket will be at our quilt shop giving quilt appraisals throughout the day. I am excited about sharing my very special quilt made by my grandmother , Marie Grubb with her and learning more about the history of design and value of this quilt. Judy also has a gorgeous Baltimore Album quilt made by her mother, Virginia Smith that she would like to learn more about (Virginia taught herself to hand applique using a book written by Elly Sienkiewicz). Also, a quilt that was made by her great paternal grandmother, Hattie Fathauer. (that quilt is probably around 150+ years OLD!!) Stop by the quilt shop to see our family treasures, quilts that help to define us as women in our families. *On Saturday, September 16th AQS Certified Quilt Appraiser, Cheri Pickett will be at Keepsake Quilt Shop to present a free trunk show of her personal historic quilts from 10:30 – 11:30am then will be appraising your personal quilts by appointment only. She is a professionally trained AQS quilt appraiser with years of experience. We are NOW scheduling 30 to 45-minute long appointments for Cheri to appraise your quilt. She will share valuable information about the condition and value of your personal quilt with you. All Pre-cut fat quarters are on SALE this week! All 1930’s, Kansas Troubles, beautiful blenders, batiks, flannels, Christmas, fall, and Halloween, and so much more! *Nancy’s Square in a Square class will be on Tuesday, September 12th from 1 – 3pm. This is a great class for beginners plus more experienced quilters too. Nancy’s class is only $10 plus fabrics. Stop by the quilt shop to see examples of this fun class. You will love this class with Nancy and her fun sense of humor! Sign up NOW! (989) 317-8700 *Our paper piecing club will be meeting on Thursday, September 14th from 6 – 9pm to make super cute Halloween and fall blocks. There will be pumpkins, witch’s boots, a scary mummy, a Halloween cat, and fall leaves, and more too. Please call ahead of the class to let me know that you will be joining us for this fun time so that I will have the patterns needed for you to participate. There is not a charge for this event which begins when we open at 10am. Remember we celebrate 3pm every Friday with ice cream! *Charming Tote Bag Class with Elisa on Tuesday, September 19th from10:30am – 4pm. Elisa will be showing you how to make a charming tote bag from a variety of fabrics. Come in and see her super cute sample of the tote bag that you will be making in class. Our Festive Fall Retreat which will be held on Saturday, October 21st from 10am – 8pm at the Chippewa Township Hall, Mt. Pleasant. The Chippewa Township Hall is a WONDERFUL facility approximately
seven miles east of Mt. Pleasant on M-20. We are planning lots of fun activities and games throughout the day, lots of time for you to sew on your own projects, hourly door prizes, delicious food from our favorite cook (Janet Freeze) and fun hanging out with other quilters. The cost is only $60 for the entire day, all the activities and food. There will be a couple of sewing challenges if you would like to participate. Space is limited. So, if you wait too long and you might miss out on this fun event! Call today to reserve your spot. Payment is due at sign up to secure your spot to attend.
