Frankenmuth Football FRANKENMUTH 6 - MICHIGAN LUTHERAN SEMINARY 0: Frankenmuth posted its first victory of the season by defeating Seminary 6-0. The Eagles would score the games only touchdown in the first quarter on a Dennis Laux 7-yard run. Seminary threatened throughout the game, but the Eagle defense would keep Seminary out of the end-zone. Late in the fourth quarter, the Eagles would sustain a drive, only to fumble on the goal line. FRANKENMUTH 16 - MARLETTE 0: The Eagles romped to its second win of the season by defeating Marlette 16-0. After a scoreless first quarter, Ron Loesel would score on a 1-yard run and Ken Baker would add the extra point. In the third quarter, defensive lineman Dick Block would recover a Marlette fumble in the end-zone for a second TD. Dennis Laux converted for the extra point. Frankenmuth would add two more points in the fourth quarter, as Rudy Frank would tackle a Marlette runner in the Marlette end-zone for a safety. The Eagles rushed for 210 yards in the game. FRANKENMUTH 12 - CASS CITY 0: Frankenmuth would win its third consecutive shutout victory of the season with a 12-0 win over Cass City. Ken Baker would score the first half's only TD on a 40-yard run. The 6-0 score would hold till the fourth quarter when Ken Baker intercepted a pass. Baker then would score the games final TD on a 35-yard touchdown run. Rudy Frank led the Eagles in tackles. Frankenmuth totaled 278 yards rushing. FRANKENMUTH 18 - LAKERS 6: In extremely foggy conditions, the Eagles would walk away with an 18-6 win against Laker High. The Eagles would score on the first play of the second quarter on a Denis Laux 1-yard plunge. A few plays later, after regaining possession, Ron Loesel would score on a 6yard run, making the score 12-0. Frank Piesko recovered a fumbled punt on the Laker 33-yard line, after which Laux ran for an 8-yard TD making the halftime score 18-0. Neither team scored in the third quarter, but with less than four minutes remaining in the game, Lakers would score on a 70-yard punt return. Tom Worley led the Eagles in tackles, holding Lakers to 39-yards rushing. FRANKENMUTH 27 - CARO 0: The Frankenmuth Eagles pounded out their fifth straight victory with a 27-0 victory over previously unbeaten Caro. A Caro fumble set up Frankenmuth's first touchdown as Dennis Laux scored on a 35-yard run. The extra point was made by Ron Loesel. Only minutes later, Laux would intercept a Caro pass and sprint for a 40-yard TD return, making the halftime score 13-0. Late in the third quarter, Laux would complete an 8yard TD pass to Loesel. Laux would add the final touchdown and extra point on a 1-yard run. BAD AXE 20 - FRANKENMUTH 0: A 20-0 loss to Bad Axe gave the Eagles their first defeat of the season. The powerful Bad Axe offense line lead the Hatchets to two first half touchdowns, as Bad Axe led 13-0 at the half. With 4:13 to go in the game, Bad Axe would score on a 52-yard run and added the extra point for the final 20-0 score. FRANKENMUTH 21 - SANDUSKY 0: In spite of no score at halftime, the Eagles would pound out a 21-0 win over Sandusky. In the second half, the Eagles blocked a Sandusky punt on the 10-yard line. Dennis Laux then ran 4-yards into the end-zone and fumbled the ball, but Ron Loesel would recover the ball for the Eagles first TD. Laux would add the extra point. Frankenmuth would score its second touchdown after Loesel intercepted a pass and ran 35yards to set-up Bakers 20-yard TD run. Baker would also add the extra point. Late in the fourth quarter as Sandusky desperately was trying for a touchdown, Baker intercepted a pass and sprinted 15-yards for a TD. Laux plunged over for the extra point. FRANKENMUTH 19 - VASSAR 7: The Eagles ended their season with a hard-fought victory over archrival Vassar 19-7. The Eagles first score came late in the second quarter on a Dennis Laux 2-yard run. The play was set up on a 45-yard pass play from Laux to Ron Loesel. With 30 seconds remaining in the half, Ron Loesel intercepted a Vassar pass and returned it 40-yard for the second Eagle touchdown. Laux then ran in the extra point. In the third quarter, Vassar would narrow the Eagles lead on a Tom Main TD run and the score stood 13-7. In the fourth quarter after a Vassar fumble, Frankenmuth would put the game away as Laux scored on a 15-yard running play.
