Frankenmuth Football FRANKENMUTH 39 - MICHIGAN LUTHERAN SEMINARY 6: The Frankenmuth Eagles dominated play in a 39-6 victory over Seminary. The Eagles scored the first time they had the ball on a Tim Irvine 2-yard run. Irvine also scored a 3-yard TD in the first half. Another first half TD was scored when Bob Zeilinger intercepted a Seminary pass and returned it 31 yards for a score. Oscar Jammer made the final score of the first half on an 8-yard run. Mark Marcet would kick the extra point and Frankenmuth led 26-0 at the half. In the third quarter, quarterback Terry Weiss scored on a 5-yard run and also passed 8 yards to Ken Weiss. The Eagles ran up 382 yards total offense. Seminary managed only two first downs to Frankenmuth's 20. FRANKENMUTH 17 - BAD AXE 7: Frankenmuth opened Thumb B play against defending champions Bad Axe and defeated the Hatchets 17-7 to stop Bad Axe's 29 game league winning streak. The Eagles defense dominated first half play by not allowing Bad Axe a first half first down. The first score for the Eagles came in the first quarter on a Mark Marcet 28-yard field goal, the first field goal in Frankenmuth football history. Dick Dechane from Bad Axe would put Bad Axe in front 7-3 on a 25-yard interception return. The Eagles regained the lead on a 9-yard TD run by Richard Lindow and a Marcet extra point for a 10-7 halftime lead. In a bruising defense struggle in the second half, Frankenmuth's Steve List would intercept a Bad Axe pass and return it 50 yards for a touchdown. Marcet's extra point made the final score 17-7. FRANKENMUTH 48 - SANDUSKY 0: Frankenmuth walked off with its third win of the season by defeating Sandusky 48-0. The Eagle defensive limited Sandusky to only three first downs in a fine defensive effort by the Eagles. In the first quarter, Ken Weiss recovered a Sandusky fumble and Tim Irvine would score the games first touchdown on a 16-yard run. Mark Marcet would kick the first of six extra points for the game. Terry Weiss would intercept a Redskin pass and follow with a 32-yard score on a pass from Richard Lindow. Weiss would score his second TD on a 55-yard punt return making the score 21-0 at the end of the first quarter. Steve List would score both second quarter touchdowns on a 30-yard punt return and a 37-yard interception return. After a scoreless third quarter, the Eagles would add two fourth quarter touchdowns on a Gary Weiss 6-yard run and Oscar Jammer recovered a fumble for a TD. FRANKENMUTH 25 - VASSAR 0: In a game played in the wind, mud and rain at Vassar's homecoming, the Eagles prevailed 25-0. The Eagles lost two scoring opportunities in the first half by losing fumbles deep in Vassar territory both times. The Eagle scored the lone first half touchdown on a Richard Lindow short TD run, set up after Steve List recovered a Vassar fumble on Vassar's 30-yard line. In the third quarter, the two teams exchanged fumbles, with Frankenmuth losing three times and Vassar twice. The Eagles came to life in the fourth quarter when Lindow scored from 6-yards. Gary Weiss would add a TD on a 35-yard run. With 47 seconds remaining in the game, Mark Marcet lined up for a 17-yard field goal, but the snap sailed over his head, but Marcet would pick up the ball and passed 17-yards to Dwight Bleke for a final touchdown. FRANKENMUTH 34 - MARLETTE 0: Frankenmuth claimed its fifth straight win with a 34-0 victory over Marlette. In the first quarter, Frankenmuth marched 57 yards in eight plays with Gary Weiss going 26-yards for the touchdown. Mark Marcet would add the first of his four extra points for the game. Terry Weiss went over from the 1-yard line giving the Eagles a 14-0 halftime lead. A 59-yard drive in the third quarter was culminated when Steve List scored on a 5-yard run. List would also add a 7-yard TD run for his second of the game. The final TD would come in the fourth quarter on a Tim Irvine 9yard run. The Eagles defense completely dominated play with Marlette having minus 27 yards rushing for the game. FRANKENMUTH 35 - CASS CITY 0: The Eagles would claim their fourth straight shutout victory by blanking Cass City 35-0. Terry Weiss would score on a 1-yard run and Steve List would add a 9-yard run to give the Eagles a 14-0 first quarter lead. Richard Lindow would add a second quarter score on a 10-yard run. On the first play from scrimmage in the second half, Tim Irvine went 44-yards for a touchdown. Lindow would score a fourth quarter score from 1-yard out and Marcet would add his fourth extra point for the 35-0 final score. The Eagles limited Cass City to only four first downs in the game. FRANKENMUTH 42 - LAKERS 0: In a cold and windy Eagle home game, the Eagles recorded their fifth straight shutout in a 42-0 score over Lakers. Terry Weiss would score two first quarter 1-yard runs with Mark Marcet adding the first of five extra points. Fred Wenzel set up the second Weiss score on a blocked punt. The Eagles would add three second quarter scores on a Gary Weiss 1-yard run, a Terry Weiss to Bob Zeilnger 7-yard passing score and a Terry Weiss 4-yard run. Frankenmuth would only score one second half touchdown on a 5-yard pass from Terry Weiss to Dwight Bleke. FRANKENMUTH 26 - CARO 0: The Frankenmuth Eagles captured the Thumb B Conference championship following their sixth straight shutout by defeating Caro 26-0. In the first quarter, Steve List intercepted a Caro pass and returned it 20-yards for a touchdown. Mark Marcet kicked his 15th consecutive extra point. Frankenmuth drove 68 yards in the second quarter with Terry Weiss sneaking 1-yard for a touchdown. The extra point kick was blocked and the halftime score was 13-0. In the third quarter, Terry Weiss ran 80-yards for a TD on a fake punt. Terry Weiss would score his third TD of the game on a 9-yard run and Marcet added the extra point for the 26-0 final score. Ike Bleke led the defense with an interception and a fumble recovery.
