Dear Vandal Track & Field Family, Enjoying the process is one of our core values. We talk about it almost daily. But it is not just about the individual process, it also extends to the program. We are a young team this year with only three seniors, and it is exciting to see the growth of the student-athletes. We had a record number of 4.0 GPA’s this last term, we had a school record fall in the first meet of the indoor season, and a sophomore competing at the USA Indoor Championships. The team as a whole is moving in the right direction and celebrating the small victories. Finding joy in the process along the way is a huge part of that. We also don’t want you to forget that this spring we will be hosting the Big Sky Outdoor Championships here in Moscow and would love to invite and encourage all of our Vandal family to come out and cheer on your team.

2018 Indoor Season Full of Success The Vandals have been competing at a high level this 2018 Indoor Track & Field season and the results have shown it. The season has been full of a numerous amount of personal bests and has been highlighted by athletes making a big leap from previous years. The first meet of the season featured a school record by sophomore Rechelle Meade in the long jump in the Kibbie Dome. Rechelle now owns the outdoor and indoor school records in the long jump at Idaho, but her leap of 6.17m (20’ 3”) from this indoor season is now her overall personal best. She ranks first in the Big Sky Conference this season and 20th in the NCAA. Sophomore Ben Doucette has also improved on an impressive freshman year by improving his personal best in the 60m Hurdles to 7.94 seconds. That mark achieved in the Kibbie Dome at the Idaho Duals meet qualified him for the 2018 Indoor USATF Championships, which he competed in and placed 13th with a time of 7.97 seconds. Other notable performances this indoor season include a personal best and conference leading mark of 7.46m (24’ 5.75”) in the long jump by sophomore Kasin Pendergrass-Anderson, a personal best of 18.01m (59’ 1.25”) in the shot put by sophomore Zack Short, and a leap of 11.93m (39’ 1.75”) in the triple jump by sophomore Karina Moreland, that ranks third in the Big Sky Conference this season.
