The 2012 version of the Lion’s Den Open **We think it’s the 10th one, so roll with us on it!** What started as a couple of friends enjoying their birthday with more friends, has grown into the fiasco that you are attending today. Suffice it to say there is much planning, and thought process that goes into this event every year, and each year we attempt to out do ourselves from the previous year. It started out without a course here, and 12 of us playing doubles for 9 holes on portable baskets with heat over 100 and a slight case of heatstroke having some hot dogs and moving the baskets to 9 new locations and calling it a course, to the new stage this year, and reclaiming the land here from the refuse that many have tried to call neglected. We simply ask that you respect each other, have a good time, and be cool on our birthday. We celebrate all Leo’s whom share this wonderful time of year with us, and chances are you are impacted by a Leo daily. We do like to be proud, but we also like to protect, and for that, we are protecting the Cliff Drive Disc Golf Course at Kessler Park. It’s Birthday is August 20, 2004, so be happy for it as well. Please leave the park cleaner than you found it, and do something nice for someone in lieu of a gift to us. Your Host’s-Dick Parker and Jack Lowe

The Kansas City Flying Disc Club, a registered not-for-profit corporation, was established in 1988 with these goals: to promote the sport of disc golf, as well as other flying disc sports by (1) holding events and leagues for players of all skill levels; (2) issuing a newsletter to connect the membership, as well as other similar flying disc organizations, the media, and parks departments; (3) working in cooperation with the various park departments to maintain and improve the current courses, and to procure new courses; Working in cooperation with the various Parks and Rec Departments, the allvolunteer KCFDC continues to maintain and to improve the existing courses in the area. The Club runs weekly events during daylight savings time—open to members and non-members alike—for players of all skill levels.
The Lion’s Den out grew the desires of the few that started it, and in such a method, we had to ask for help from many various people and organizations to make this endeavor great for all to enjoy. As such the flowing list of people and associate businesses have stepped up to help make this year’s version of the Lion’s Den Open a memorable one for all. We thank them all from the bottom of our heart and paws for their support of us as individuals, and their support of our sport that we all enjoy. It is with partnerships that we have built this community, as it takes all of us to make it work, we ask that those time you have a choice, please choose those that sponsor our events, and they will continue to push out sport to new places. Besides taking care of courses and running weeklies, the KCFDC runs or promotes special events, such as the Annual Kansas City Wide Open and KC Disc Golf Day, where we will be celebrating disc golf in Kansas City. Since 1999, the KCFDC has hosted three PDGA World Championship events, including the largest competitive disc golf event of all time in the summer of 2009 when 921 players attended the PDGA World Championships. We encourage you join the KCFDC (or to continue your membership) and become part of the growth of disc golf in Kansas City. The game, while relatively new, needs a strong club to connect effectively with the various governments on which our courses are located. We are one of the strongest clubs in the country, and we get things done. Come join us or visit the website at www.KCFDC.org for more information about disc golf within Kansas City, Friend us on Facebook as well!!
