A Look at the Brewers

• Last Time Out: Vassar finished 1-1 over the weekend earning a season opening victory over Wheelock College 72-66 before falling to Springfield 8244 in the final game of the Vassar Tip-Off Tournament. • Career-Best: Senior Alex Snyder had a career-high 27 points to help Vassar secure a victory over Wheelock, and was named to the all-tournament team for his efforts. • Top of the Conference: The Vassar men’s basketball team was selected to finish first in the Liberty League according to the preseason coaches’ poll released on November 13. The Brewers received seven first place votes and 63 points overall to secure the top spot in the poll. Skidmore was tabbed second in the league, receiving one first place vote and 57 points, while RIT came in third with the final first place vote and 44 points. • Senior Leaders: This year’s VC squad is led by its senior class, which includes starters Andrew Adkins, Curtis Smith, Alex Snyder and Luka Ladan. Snyder and Adkins will serve as the team’s captains for the season.

A Look at the Hawks

• Last Time Out: The Hawks opened their 2014-2015 campaign Saturday, November 15th with a loss to Hamilton College. The Hawks fell by a score of 55-58 in overtime after outscoring Hamilton 25 to 16 in the second half to force the extra period. The Hawks shot just 29.0 pct. against Hamilton while committing 18 turnovers in the defeat. • A Season Ago: New Paltz finished 6-19 least season with a 3-15 overall record in the SUNYAC. Current senior Taylor Sowah returns as the team’s top scorer, as the forward averaged 16.0 points along with 6.4 rebounds in 201314. Senior guard R.J. Rosa is also back for the Hawks after finishing with 9.4 points and 4.6 rebounds a game last season. • Series History: Vassar is 8-15 all-time against New Paltz, but were able to pick up a 73-61 victory over the Hawks last season on the road. Junior Johnny Mrlik led all scorers with 21 points, while junior Erikson Wasyl added 16 and senior Curtis Smith finished with 15. The last time the teams met at the AFC, New Paltz earned a 58-54 win back in November of 2012.
