Resurrection Jesus died on a Friday. His body was taken down from the cross and was placed in a borrowed tomb. Some were concerned His body would be tampered with. While Jesus was alive He announced He would be killed. He also prophesied He would rise from the dead after three days. He enemies were afraid someone would steal His body to convince others He was alive. To prevent this a huge stone was placed in front of the tomb. Strong soldiers were ordered to guard the entrance. On Sunday some women who loved Jesus went to His tomb to honor Him. There was violent earthquake. An angel moved the stone away. Terrified the guards fell like dead men. The angel announced Jesus was no longer in the tomb. He was alive as He promised. He allowed the women to enter the tomb and see where He’d been laid. His body was not there. The angel instructed them to run quickly and tell His disciples the news. Jesus had been risen from the dead. He was killed and Satan thought he had destroyed God’s Son. This was not true! Jesus had the power of God’s Holy Spirit surging through His body. Because He had never sinned, He was able to conquer sin and death permanently. Before Jesus’ death on the cross He walked closely with those He taught. Everything was different after He died and resurrected. He appeared to different ones for brief periods. He spent a short time with Mary instructing her to tell the others He was alive. He ate a meal with two who didn’t recognize Him. When their eyes were opened and they knew it was Him, He disappeared from sight. They also ran to tell the others. He visited them all allowing them to touch and see He was risen. God told those He’d taught to go and make disciples of all nations and to baptize them. He told them to instruct the people to obey His commands. He promised to be with them always. From the beginning of creation God had planned this miracle. He created man knowing we would need a Savior. He built a nation to be His very own and gave them commands they could never obey without Him. Through out the history of Israel God always promised He would redeem and restore His people. He also promised all people on earth would be blessed through them. This was God keeping His covenant. Through Jesus we can all be saved. We simply must believe in Him and accept the gift of life He is offering. When we accept Jesus we run fast into Father’s embrace to be held and loved forever.
