United Nations – June 2015
Funded activities In 2013-2014, UNSCAR supported 28 projects with a total of $4 million. Activities range from capacity-building of government officials for ratification of the ATT, to improvement of
border security, to sensitizing parliamentarians, to advocacy against gender-based violence.
Call for proposals Eligible applicants are the 23 UN entities that work on small arms, the arms trade, and ammunition, regional organizations, NGOs and research institutes.
Member States can work with eligible organizations to design and submit project proposals. A cap of $ 200,000 per project applies.
Coordination among partners UNSCAR consults implementing partners on a coordination plan, which includes recipient countries and regional organizations. Coordination plans contribute to reducing unwanted competition or
duplication of efforts among implementing partners, particularly where thematic and regional focuses are related.
Special-circumstances projects UNSCAR also funds special-circumstances projects, which aim to provide rapid response to emergency
situations. These projects can be submitted all year round.
