2016 CSA Information At Buzz’s Garden we are dedicated to providing high quality produce via direct to consumer relations. We are committed to doing so using sustainable growing practices without the use of harmful synthetic fertilizers & pest controls. All seeds are sourced from certified organic operations and all of our practices are in accordance with USDA organic standards. Although we are not yet certified organic through our certifier, NOFA-NY, we have signed the NOFA-NY Farmers’ Pledge and are pending certification. As a supporting member of our farm, you help us purchase inputs (seeds, equipment) and reduce food waste through consistent markets. In turn, it allows you to know not only where your food is coming from/how it was grown, but also who grew it and an opportunity to participate at the farm. Our CSA pickups are market-style, offered at our three farmers’ market James Cagle & Hayley Brown locations (Mendon & Brighton). Pickups for the summer shares will take place during market hours the first week of June through mid-October: Tuesday 3PM-6PM Mendon Farmers’ Market (June 7th – October 11th) Mendon Station Park - Located on the Lehigh Valley Trail 1371 Pittsford Mendon Rd, Mendon, NY 14506 Sunday 9AM-1PM Brighton Farmers’ Market 1150 S Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14618 (Brighton High School) Pickups for the fall shares will take place mid-October through Thanksgiving week: Tuesday 5PM- 6:30PM at the Cottage Hotel of Mendon 1390 Pittsford Mendon Rd, Mendon, NY 14506 Additional Member Participation Opportunities: Farm workdays: volunteer days will be Wednesdays at 52 York St. from 8AM-6PM for shifts of four hours or less. Tasks may include, but are not limited to: harvesting, weeding, clearing beds, and moving produce. We require 24 hours notice so that we can accommodate the number of volunteers for a given day/time appropriately. U-pick items will be at 20 Parrish Rd field in accordance with email notification for availability. Items include: beans, peas, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and flowers. *Please dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared to get dirty! You will want to pack a hat, sunscreen, rain gear, and water, as conditions require. I understand that farming carries with it dependence on the weather and other natural events that can be beyond the control of the farmer and can affect the quantity and quality of some of the produce. But, I also look forward to sharing in the numerous rewards that come with locally and organically grown produce. Pickups are on a first come, first serve basis; items may sell out, but items equivalent to the full value of your share will be available. I understand that my share will be ready for me to pick up only on my designated pick-up day; we surrender the responsibility to arrange an alternate pickup time.
