2016 Speech & Debate Summer Workshop
2016 Speech & Debate Summer Workshop This summer, the FCHS Speech and Debate Program will be hosting its first Speech and Debate Summer Workshop for all returning middle school students and rising ninth graders. Participants will receive personalized training and chances to practice techniques in a supportive and encouraging environment. Furthermore, this experience will provide participants with invaluable resources, skills and knowledge that will move them ahead in both their competitive speech activities and in their classrooms as well. Lastly, we know from experience that speech and debate develops students with higher levels of confidence, self-worth, leadership and initiative.
Four-day program: Monday, August 15th – Thursday, August 18th @ First Colonial High School Workshop hours: 8:00AM – 3:00PM We believe that natural talent is never enough; our program’s student leaders strive to model the importance of dedication, hard work, and perseverance. Over the past five years our program has produced: ★ ★ ★ ★
Back-to-back 6A VHSL Debate State Sweepstakes Titles in 2014 and 2015. 9 individual VHSL state champions and 20 state finalists in various categories of both debate & forensics. Four straight 6A South VHSL Debate Regional Titles. Six straight Debate Beach District and Conference One titles.
Many comprehensive competitive speech workshops can cost as much as $400-500 dollars. This year we are proud to offer this great experience for only a fraction of the cost. Additionally, early bird registrations that are completed by June 30th will only cost $90! (Registration after June 30th increases by $25) Sign up soon and don't miss out on chance to learn from some of the most dedicated and talented students this proud region has to offer.
