Local Rules – Spring 2017 Texas ASA District 3- 8 & Under Rules 1. Texas ASA Rulebook will be used along with the league rules as set forth in this document. 2. Home team will be responsible for furnishing an official score keeper. In case of a neutral site please see who is listed as home team. 3. Home team will furnish 2 game balls of appropriate size that meet current Texas ASA guidelines. 4. Protest will be allowed for rule interpretation only. No protest will be allowed on umpire judgment calls. A protest fee of $50.00 and a written statement from the protesting coach within 24 hours must be submitted to District Commissioner. A statement from the umpire is also required within 24 hours within the same time period. The rules committee will look at all evidence and render a decision within 48 hours of protest. 5. All towns and cities will be responsible for their own trophies and or player recognition. 6. 8U Division- A player’s age as of January 1, 2017. 7. Ten Players on the field- can start game with 9. Teams can play with 7 and or 8 but will take an out for the players not present at time of batting. 8. Base distance 60 feet- Double base to be used at first. 9. Pitching distance- 35 feet. 10. Straight Coach Pitch- 6 Pitches no walks (If 6th Pitch is fouled player gets one more pitch)

11. Helmets with NOCSA approved face guards are required for batters and base runners. Chin Straps are no longer required but are encouraged to still be used 12. Softball- 11 inch. 13. Bat the Roster. 14. 5 runs per half inning. 15. Run ahead rules will be at discretion of the coaches. If losing team wants to play out clock without adding to the score and both coaches agree. Umpire will finish out time. 16. 8U games will be 70 minutes finish the inning. 17. Absolutely NO jewelry allowed. 18. Base Stealing is not allowed.
