2017 CARY CLASSIC TOURNAMENT RULES (8U Division) TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR: JOHN JUAREZ 559-940-0158 The Cary Classic Tournament Rules below supplement the Official Babe Ruth Baseball Rules. 1. Player’s age is determined by May 1, 2017 age as stated in official Babe Ruth rules (Coaches must have player birth certificates available if player’s age is questioned). 2. In pool play, coin flip before each game will determine home and visiting teams. Team listed first on the schedule will occupy the first base dugout. On Sunday, (bracket play), higher seed will be home team, and occupy the third base dugout. 3. Home team must provide official scorekeeper. Home team is responsible for reporting the score (send a text message) immediately following each game to the Tournament Scorekeeper, (559970-1169). The text shall include the division, team names, and score. 4. No new inning after 1 hour 30 minutes. Drop dead at 1 hour 45 minutes. Score reverts to last completed inning unless home team is batting and ahead when drop dead time is reached. a. Pool play games can end in a tie. b. In bracket play, if tied after time limit is reached, international rules will be in effect when the next inning begins. c. Championship Game: No new inning after 1 hour 30 minutes, but the inning shall be finished. 5. Pitcher and catcher must quickly take the field, no more than 8 warm up pitches for new pitcher, 5 between innings. A coach can warm up a pitcher. 6. Mercy Rule will be in effect: 15 after 3 innings, 10 after 4, 8 after 5. 7. No metal cleats allowed. 8. Base runners can lead off/steal after a pitched ball reaches home plate. Base runners leaving their base before the pitched ball reaches home plate will be called out and this constitutes a dead ball situation. 9. No head first sliding, diving back to a bag is okay.

10. Infield fly is not in effect. 11. Balk rule not in effect. 12. Dropped third strike not in effect. 13. Teams must start a game with a minimum of 9 players. Teams may continue play with a minimum of 8 players, if a player becomes sick or injured. If a player is not able to bat when it is his/her turn in the batting order, that player will be a called out. If a team cannot field 8 defensive players, the game will be forfeited. 14. Courtesy runners are allowed for the pitcher and catcher, last out must be courtesy runner or a sub. 15. BIG BARREL bats are NOT allowed. All bats must have BFT 1.15 Stamp. 16. Pitching rubber will be set at 43 feet. 17. Teams may choose to bat the entire line-up with free and open defensive substitutions, or bat (9) or (10) with a DH or EH. 18. Pitchers may pitch no more than 3 innings per game. Pitcher must be removed on 2nd coach visit per inning. If a pitcher throws one pitch in an inning, it constitutes an inning pitched. A removed pitcher may be placed in any other defensive position or may be removed from the game. The removed pitcher may not pitch any more in the game he/she was removed from. Violating pitching rules will be cause for immediate forfeit. 19. No protests are allowed; umpire decisions are final. 20. Coaches are responsible for coaches, players, and parent conduct. If a coach is ejected from a game they are to eminently leave the park (they will not be allowed in stands). If coach is ejected from a game they will not be allowed in the dugout for the next game. Coaches may be ejected for parent disruption. 21. No Alcohol allowed on park property or surrounding area. 22. After the game teams must immediately vacate the dugout of all gear and players. Team meetings after the game are to take place outside field fences.
