IT’S THE HYBRID THAT HAULS HYBRID EFFICIENCY MEETS THRILLING PERFORMANCE. The Highlander Hybrid has an impressive and proven track record. It offers the fuel efficiency you expect with a combined city/highway rating of 8.3 L/100km and the power you demand with our Hybrid powertrain, which generates 306 hybrid system net horsepower.18 On top of that, it offers 1,587 kg (3,500 lb.) of towing capacity. And for life driving on Canadian roads, Highlander Hybrid is equipped with Electronic On Demand AWD-i, which automatically switches to all-wheel-drive utilizing an additional motor to drive the rear wheels when extra traction is required. All of this proves that going Hybrid doesn’t mean having to give up on the thrill of the drive.

EV OR ECO MODES EV Mode uses only the electric motors for situations where you’re driving at low speeds for short distances. For more economical operation in normal driving situations, ECO Mode modifies throttle response to help reduce fuel consumption.
HYBRID SYSTEM INDICATOR Located in the instrument gauge panel is the Hybrid System Indicator, which provides the driver with a guideline to help optimize fuel efficiency.

It features a new 3.5-litre V6 direct-injection engine that’s paired with an advanced Direct Shift 8-Speed Automatic Transmission. This new powertrain is built to generate more horsepower and torque while enhancing fuel efficiency. And thanks to a MacPherson strut suspension up front with a double-wishbone type suspension in the rear, Highlander offers exceptional handling, stability, performance, and overall ride quality and comfort. Taking the long way home is never a problem.
IMPRESSIVE TOWING Your experiences should never feel limited with Highlander. With a towing power of 2,268 kg (5,000 lb.) and 1,587 kg (3,500 lb.) for Highlander Hybrid, you’ll have more than enough power to pull a camping trailer with ease, or whatever else you may need to while you’re away. AVAILABLE DYNAMIC TORQUE-CONTROL AWD W ith the Highlander Dynamic Torque-Control AWD system, engine power is distributed from front-to-rear, giving the driver maximum control on a variety of surfaces.
STOP AND START ENGINE SYSTEM With great power comes great efficiency. Available on gas-powered Highlanders is the new Stop and Start Engine System. This shuts the engine off when Highlander is at rest — like when at a stoplight — to help save more fuel. When it’s time to go, pressing the accelerator restarts the engine so you can get on your way.

SAFETY FIRST
PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM WITH PEDESTRIAN DETECTION12 Provides collision avoidance or collision mitigation support in speed ranges where frontal collisions are likely to occur. In certain conditions, the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD)12 may also help to detect pedestrians and help prevent or mitigate a collision.
LANE DEPARTURE ALERT WITH STEERING ASSIST13 Alerts you if you start to drift out of your lane when visible lane markings are detected. The Steering Assist function may also provide small corrective steering inputs.
DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL 14 Using forward sensing radar technology, the system can automatically adjust vehicle speed to help maintain a preset following distance between you and the vehicle directly in front of you.
AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM15 Designed to detect oncoming and preceding vehicles’ lights and depending upon the circumstances, Automatic High Beam (AHB)15 can switch between high and low beams for you.

(9) Smart Stop Technology operates only in the event of certain simultaneous brake and gas pedal applications. When engaged, the system will reduce engine power to help the brakes bring the vehicle to a stop. Factors including speed, road conditions, and driver input can all impact stopping distance. Smart Stop Technology is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving and does not guarantee instant stopping. (10) Do not rely exclusively on the Blind Spot Monitor System and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert System. They are not collision-avoidance systems or substitutes for safe and attentive driving. (11) Drivers should always be responsible for their own safe driving. Please always pay attention to your surroundings and drive safely. Depending on the conditions of roads, vehicles, weather, etc., the TSS systems may not work as intended. (12) The TSS Pre-Collision System is designed to help avoid or reduce the impact speed and damage in certain frontal collisions only. The Pedestrian Detection system is designed to detect a pedestrian ahead of the vehicle, determine if impact is imminent and help reduce impact speed. It is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness depends on many factors, such as speed, size and position of pedestrians, driver input and weather, light and road conditions. (13) Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist is designed to read lane markers under certain conditions and provide visual and audible alerts and slight steering force when lane departure is detected. It is not a collision-avoidance system or a substitute for safe and attentive driving. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver steering input can all affect VSC system effectiveness. (8) Brake Assist is designed to help the driver take full advantage of the benefits of ABS. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Braking effectiveness also depends on proper brake-system maintenance and tire and road conditions. (9) Smart Stop Technology operates only in the event of certain simultaneous brake and gas pedal applications. When engaged, the system will reduce engine power to help the brakes bring the vehicle to a stop. Factors including speed, road conditions, and driver input can all impact stopping distance. Smart Stop Technology is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving and does not guarantee instant stopping. (10) Do not rely exclusively on the Blind Spot Monitor System and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert System. They are not collision-avoidance systems or substitutes for safe and attentive driving. (11) Drivers should always be responsible for their own safe driving. Please always pay attention to your surroundings and drive safely. Depending on the conditions of roads, vehicles, weather, etc., the TSS systems may not work as intended. (12) The TSS Pre-Collision System is designed to help avoid or reduce the impact speed and damage in certain frontal collisions only. The Pedestrian Detection system is designed to detect a pedestrian ahead of the vehicle, determine if impact is imminent and help reduce impact speed. It is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness depends on many factors, such as speed, size and position of pedestrians, driver input and weather, light and road conditions. (13) Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist is designed to read lane markers under certain conditions and provide visual and audible alerts and slight steering force when lane departure is detected. It is not a collision-avoidance system or a substitute for safe and attentive driving. (14) Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is designed to assist the driver and is not a collision-avoidance system or a substitute for safe and attentive driving practices. System effectiveness depends on many factors such as weather, traffic and road conditions. (15) Automatic High Beam system operates at speeds above approximately 34 km/h. Factors such as a dirty windshield, variable weather, lighting conditions and hilly terrain will limit effectiveness, requiring the driver to manually turn it off. (16) DAC is designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control and speed on steep downhill descents. HAC is designed to help minimize backward rolling on steep ascents. This system is not a substitute for safe driving judgment and practices. Factors including speed, grade, surface conditions and driver input can all affect whether DAC and HAC will be effective in preventing a loss of control.
