Contests Feature ... Plumbing Contestants:
HVAC Contestants:
• Install a basic three-piece bathroom—toilet, sink, and shower
• Demonstrate proper oxyacetylene brazing techniques
• Install water and drain, waste and vent lines
• Perform a pressure test and leak test, and pull a vacuum on a system
• Determine rough-in locations
• Demonstrate proper recovery procedures
• Establish grade lines for installing plumbing
• Take a full set of readings on a functioning package unit and measure airflow, static pressure, and capacity from the package unit
• Install vents and cleanouts • Rough-in waste and vent lines • Rough-in water supply lines
• Perform a hands-on diagnostic and repair on a package unit
• Secure horizontal and vertical lines of pipe to wood and metal surfaces
• Take a written test evaluating HVAC knowledge
