2017 Scholarship Allied Energy, Allied Agronomy and Allied Grain (“Allied”) are offering two $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing a two or four year degree in agronomy, crop production, or closely related field. The scholarship is available to high school seniors graduating in 2017 or to college students in their first or second year of pursuing an agriculture related career. Applicants must be either a customer or a child of an Allied customer. Selection is based on scholastic achievement, leadership, school and community activities, and perceived ability to contribute to agriculture in the future. The scholarship will be awarded without regard to race, color, national origin, age, religion, sex or disability. Children of Allied employees and board members are not eligible to apply. Eligibility: Open to all graduating high school seniors or to college students in their freshmen or sophomore year for an agriculture related area of study. Must be an Allied customer. Award Criteria: Academic record of student. School and community activities. Demonstrated leadership. Typed essay on why I’m interested in an agricultural career. Amount: Two scholarships will be awarded for $1,000 total, each with the money to be used for tuition. The scholarship check will be mailed to the Financial Aid Office of the selected institution. The scholarship amount will be split evenly for fall and spring semesters. If a recipient withdraws from school or elects to attend a non-accredited school after receiving the scholarship, the scholarship will be terminated and any refund will be made back to Allied.
Application Deadline: April 15, 2017 (postmark date) Recipient will be selected and announced by May 15, 2017. Materials to be Returned: 1. Completed, typed or legibly written application form. 2. Copy of high school or college transcript. 3. Two letters of recommendation from individuals not related to you – one from a community leader of your choice and one from a school instructor or official. 4. Essay: Why are you interested in agriculture as a career? The essay should by typed and not exceed one double-spaced page. All essays will be judged on creativity, content, spelling and grammar.
