Follow your pass to the next line. Progression Set up two boxes back to back with a small alley in between and turn the drill into a competition. See which team can get the ball around (2 rotations) fastest. Losers do a penalty (push ups, etc.)

STAR DRILL Basic X2 throws to X3 > X3 throws to X4 > X4 throws to X1 >X1 throws to X5... Progression #1: Finish with a shot X5 cuts to the goal, receives the ball from X1 and shoots on goal. X2 then picks up a ball and the drill again. Progression #2: Pick and roll The player behind X2 (2nd in line) passes the ball to X3. At the same time that the ball is being passed, X2 runs to X3 and sets a pick for X3. X3 runs off the pick, then passes the ball immediately to X2. X2 passes the ball to X4. At the same time that the ball is being passed, X3 runs towards X4 and sets a pick for him. The drill repeats in this fashion.

2 VS 1 – 3 VS 2 (BASIC) For a 3 vs. 2 drill, the coach arranges three lines of offense and three lines of defense at various points on the field. When the ball is rolled to your line, the defenseman in that line takes a knee, while the other two defensemen cover the three offensive players.

HAVERFORD DRILL Basic Ball starts as a 2 v. 1. When a goal is scored or the coach blows the play dead, then one additional offensive player and 1 additional defensive player join the drill, turning it into a 3 vs. 2. The drill is built up in this fashion until it reaches 6 vs. 5. Progression When the coach blows the whistle, the players already in the drill must do an up-down, or sprint to touch a line before rejoining the drill

WEST GENNY (3 v. 2) The drill starts as 3 offensive players (Y1, Y2, Y3) vs. 2 defensive players (X1, X2). After the offensive possession ends, the last player to touch ball drops out (Y2 and Y3 drop to play defense). X1, X2 and X3 enter the drill. When Y2 and Y3 have played defense, they step out and return to their side of the field. The drill repeats in this fashion. Notes: Consider shortening the field for younger players or more reps. Have the player that drops out sprint to a cone in under 5 seconds before returning to their side. You can also run this drill as a 4 vs. 3 to practice the concept of a fast break offense and defense.
