BIOS Bob Love Love, who has been a member of the USPTA since 1971 and in 1983 was one of 18 teaching professionals designated as the first Master Professionals, is being honored by the Kentucky Hall of Fame for his extensive
and remarkable contributions to tennis. Love began playing tennis at the age of 13 in his hometown of Port Huron, Mich. He played tennis throughout high school, college and his career in the United States Air Force. Love began teaching tennis in 1967 and moved into a full-time tennis career in 1972 including serving as the general manager of the Detroit Loves of World Team Tennis. In 1984 Love brought his passion for tennis to Kentucky. He has served as the president of the USPTA Kentucky, a member of the USTA Kentucky executive board, and the KHSAA tennis committee and all-state selection committee. Love has coached five NCAA All-Americans during his time as a teaching professional. He has presented at more than 80 coaching workshops since taking up residence in Kentucky in 1984. Love has also presented on a national stage at four USTA National Tennis Teachers Conferences, two USTA Community Tennis Workshops and three USPTA World Conferences. Most recently Love has organized the USPTA Kentucky Junior Grand Prix and has coordinated more than 60 tournaments since 2006. He also served as league coordinator for the Central Kentucky USTA Junior Team Tennis league. Lane Evans Lane Evans has been a tennis teaching professional for almost 35 years, 29 of them as a USPTA member. He spent 22 of those years as a Club GM as well. Lane holds an Elite Professional certification with the USPTA. He also holds certifications as a Certified Fitness Trainer, Certified Senior Fitness Specialist and Exercise Therapist with the International Sports Sciences Association. Lane is also certified by the International Tennis Performance Association(iTPA) as a Certified Tennis Performance Specialist Speci and is also now a Master Tennis Performance Specialist. He is Chairman of the USPTA National Fitness, Wellness and Sports Science Committee. He also has served on the USPTA National Tester Committee. Lane served as the President of USPTA North Carolina, olina, 1st Vice-President of USPTA Southern Division and is now President. He is also the Chairman of the Pro Relations Committee for USTA Southern. For the past six years he has been recognized as a “Top-10” USPTA educational credit achievers. In 2011, he was named USPTA NC Professional of the Year and USTA NC Walt Stamer Senior Male Player of the Year. In 2014, he was presented with the Fred Burdick “Pride of the South” award. In 2015, he was awarded the USPTA/TIA National Industry Excellence award and also the USTA NC “Carlton Harris Tennis Professional of the Year” award. In 2016, he was named USPTA Southern Professional of the Year. Lane is the Director of Tennis and Wellness at Champion Hills Club in Hendersonville, NC. He is a regular presenter at USPTA, iTPA and USTA seminars and also consults with clubs all over the country on tennis, fitness, senior fitness programming and fitness center set-up and operations. Lane was a presenter at the 2014 Grand Slam Coaches Conference in Melbourne, Australia in January during the Australian Open and several USPTA World Conferences.
