Dear Parents, Grandparents & Parishioners, Thank you to everyone that took the time to complete our uniform vote/survey, we had a reply from 89% of our families which is a fantastic response! I am delighted to announce that 85% voted YES to the proposed new uniform which will be introduced from September (if anyone would like to see a full breakdown of the feedback this can be requested from the office). What this means for you: Our uniform working group (made up of Governors, myself and our MAT School Business Manager) will work with SALTO to make the final arrangements for the new uniform, as we want to ensure that it is affordable, hardwearing and comfortable and is done in the easiest way for parents. I have really enjoyed discussing the fabrics and washing and ironing combinations that parents go through to present the perfect turned out child each week which is not easy. Every parental comment/request will be taken into account. All children will be expected to wear the new uniform from September 2018. The school is going to go through lots of changes in the coming years, but what will definitely not change is our focus on working relentlessly to provide an excellent education for every child. The new uniform will be available to order/buy from April (or hopefully sooner!). I am also delighted that SALTO will continue to be our supplier as this will best serve our school community not just from an online facility but a local store. In other news, it has been another good week to report at St. Matthew’s. Thankfully the weather has taken a turn for the better and we are back to some good building weather and the extensions are both once again making progress. The children thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Burns Day on Thursday with Scotch Broth, a traditional “haggis, neeps & tatties” lunch followed by Cranachan. They can’t wait for National Yorkshire Pudding Day next week!

Parents, Carers & Parishioners are ALL welcome. Who are the Mini Vinnies? See - Think - Do! The Society of St Vincent de Paul has been engaging with young people and education since its earliest days. ‘Mini Vinnies' are children aged between 7 to 11 who, with the permission of their parents and the support of their Schools, are encouraged to embark on their first steps as possible 'Vincentians for life'. As Mini Vinnies, the youngsters have their own 'treasured' Prayer, Pledge and Badge, a dedicated website and a range of bright and colourful documents which guide them in their formative steps - helping and enabling them to become in every sense, young Vincentians - or 'Mini Vinnies'.
MEMOS AND REMINDERS Impetigo: We have had a case of Impetigo in school this week. Impetigo is a skin infection that’s very contagious but not usually serious. It often gets better in 7 to 10 days if you get treatment. Anyone can get it, but it’s very common in young children. The infection starts with red sores or blisters. They quickly burst and leave crusty, golden-brown patches. These can: look a bit like cornflakes stuck to your skin; get bigger; spread to other parts of your body be itchy; sometimes be painful. It can spread to anyone who touches infected skin or items that have been touched by infected skin (such as clothing, towels, and bed linens). It can be itchy, so kids also can spread the infection when they scratch it and then touch other parts of their body. Please call the doctor if any of your children have signs of impetigo, especially if they’ve been around a family member or classmate with the infection. Any infected children must stay off school for 48 hours after starting antibiotics or, if you don’t get treatment, until the patches dry out and crust over. For more information go to: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/impetigo/ Wraparound Care Fees: Just a reminder that our fees have changed - from January 2018 parents will be charged the following prices for Breakfast Club and After School Club:
