What is a Family-School Compact?

A Family-School Compact for Achievement is an

Family First Night Activities

agreement that parents, students, and teachers develop together. It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all students get the individual support they need to reach and exceed grade level standards.

Jointly Developed The parents and staff of North Larose Elementary School developed this Family-School Compact for Achievement. Parents created the suggestions for home activities to support learning. Schoolwide meetings are held each year to update the Compact. Parents are welcome to contribute comments at any time. The current year student achievement as measured by District Performance Score (DPS) will meet or exceed the 2016 scores.

K-2 ELA Fluency-80% of elementary schools will maintain an average of 80% on the K-2 High Frequency Word Unit Lists. K-2 ELA District Assessments-80% of elementary schools will maintain an average of 80% on the K-2 ELA District Assessments.

School Goals 1. Current year school performance (SPS) is 106.7, the students will meet or exceed this index by .6 to 107.3. 2.

Current ELA index is 98.82. We will meet or exceed 102.32 in 2017 (+3.5).

North Larose Elementary school parents collaborate with staff to develop ideas of how families can support student’s success in reading and math.

The 2nd grade team will work with students and their families to support student’s success in reading and math. Some of our key connections with families will be:

Conducting fluency activities/homework

Conducting student engaged activities to promote student growth

Working with or checking child’s homework daily

Providing families with a Take-Home Test folder with grades and assessments

Reviewing child’s daily school folder

Listening to student reading decodable books, or guided reading books

Assist your child in morning preparation to ensure a positive start to each school day

Providing families with newsletter of upcoming events and important information Conducting STEAM activities

Students North Larose Elementary students along with staff and parents helped to develop ideas about how they can succeed in school and reach for the stars in math and reading. Students thought of the following ideas to make connections between learning at home and school: -

Bringing necessary materials to class Writing down homework assignments Following school and class rules (1-follow directions quickly, 2-raise your hand for permission to speak, 3-raise your hand for permission to leave your seat, 4-make smart choices, 5-keep your dear teacher happy) Participating in class and school activities Doing homework daily
