Features and Benefits Mobile
system removes solids and heavy metals from produced and flowback water
– Enables 100% reuse of produced and flowback water, reducing the need for fresh water for oil and gas operations – Minimizes expensive transportation and disposal logistics – Lowers treatment costs and maximizes reservoir performance
The Baker Hughes H2prO™ HMS Water Management Service is designed to reduce operating costs by treating produced and flowback water for reuse in hydraulic fracturing operations, with no potential damage to the reservoir. The mobile, ruggedized systems, designed specifically for oilfield operations, remove heavy metals and suspended solids that, if left untreated, can negatively impact the fracture fluid formulation and the reservoir.
Improve separation efficiency The foundation of the H2prO HMS service is built on decades of electrocoagulation technology development for industrial water treatment. This exclusive electrochemical technology reliably—and without chemicals—removes contaminants that can damage the reservoir and cause costly nonproductive time (NPT) due to electrode scaling.
Unlike traditional electrocoagulation systems, the H2prO HMS service uses an innovative, patent-pending design that prevents electrode fouling to ensure consistent, dependable treatment. In addition, the applied electric field improves coagulation of the contaminants, resulting in better separation efficiency compared to alternative chemical treatment methods. Electrocoagulation technology does not require filters that quickly clog and must be changed frequently, resulting in added costs and NPT. Electrocoagulation also is more cost-effective compared to chemical clarification, which requires substantial chemical volumes and generates large amounts of sludge.
• Removes contaminants without chemicals • Reduces costly nonproductive time associated with electrode scaling Customized treatment solutions – Lowers operating expenses
• Minimizes cost of freshwater sourcing, transport, storage, and treatment • Treats water just enough for reuse – Minimizes the environmental impact of oil and gas operations
• Reduces environmental hazards associated with transporting and disposing of produced and flowback water • Conserves fresh water Pre- and post-treatment water analysis – Increases water treatment effectiveness – Ensures fracture fluid and reservoir compatibility – Matches treatment to operators’ water requirements
Reduce costs and increase operational speed Combining high mobility and proven technology, the H2prO HMS service can be mobilized to the wellsite or tank battery and begin treating water in as little as one hour of rig-up time. By treating water on-site, operators not only remove the cost and logistics of transportation but also reduce the associated hazards of transporting waste water. A single H2prO HMS system can treat up to 8,500 bbl (1,351 m3) of water per day
and remove 99% of suspended solids, preventing potential formation damage when the water is reused in fracture fluids. Iron levels are reduced to less than 10 mg/L, enabling water reuse in crosslinked fracture fluid formulations. The system also reduces hardness and levels of barium, strontium, and manganese by 20% or more, helping limit scale formation.
Ensure water compatibility A dedicated team of oilfield water application engineers conduct in-depth pretreatment water analysis to ensure
that the treated water is compatible for use in fit-for-purpose fracture fluids as well as other oilfield operations. During the treatment phase, we continually monitor the influent and effluent water streams to verify that the water quality after treatment meets the operator’s water quality specifications.
