4v4 Pond Hockey Rules Registration and Payment All teams must register online through IMLeagues.com. Once a team is registered online, payment instructions will be emailed to the captain. A team must be registered AND paid in full, before they are officially in the league. The tournament will cost $8.00 per team. The tournament will consist of 8 teams with single elimination. If 4 or less teams show up the tournament will be cancelled and payment will be refunded. Schedules Schedules for league play are posted online through IMLeagues.com. The tournament will go from 11:00am – 3:00pm at the latest. Facility All games will be played outdoors at University Park. Eligibility Liability Each participant is responsible for their own eligibility. Furthermore, each team captain is responsible for the eligibility of their team members. Inquiring about eligibility in advance of contests precludes delays and potential protest(s). The Intramurals program will check the eligibility of players if an opposing captain lodges a protest or the Intramurals program has reason to believe the person in question is not eligible. The Intramurals office reserves the right to put into immediate effect any rule changes or modifications regarding eligibility. The Intramurals program reserves the right to handle eligibility violations without a formal protest. IGNORANCE OF ANY INTRAMURALS RULE IS NOT AN EXCUSE! Who is Eligible? The following are eligible to enjoy all Intramurals privileges and will retain that status until they withdraw, graduate or fail to comply with eligibility rules or other guidelines:  

All regularly enrolled UND Students UND Faculty/Staff Members working in any department or college of the University o Must be a Wellness Center Member o If not a Wellness Center Member, they must purchase a Wellness Center Day Pass for each day of an intramural contest. The receipt from the Wellness Center must be presented at each contest.

Only players who can show their valid UND ID or Wellness Center membership card are eligible to play. Intercollegiate Team Members, Junior/Community College and Former Varsity Athletes Intercollegiate Team Members: “Active” members, including redshirts of the varsity or other intercollegiate teams, are ineligible to participate in the same or related sport during the same academic year in which they participated as a member of the varsity team. “ACTIVE” members shall be defined as any athlete who is on an intercollegiate team within one week of the intercollegiate team’s first scheduled contest. Junior College/Community College: athletes who have competed for a junior college or community college team are ineligible to compete in those sports or related sports during the same academic year. Former University Varsity athletes are eligible to participate, but a maximum of two (2) may be on the same team in their similar or related sport. Identification Cards All participants will be asked to present a valid UND ID or Wellness Center membership card prior to playing in any RecSports contest. Individuals failing present a valid UND ID will not be allowed to participate. Teams and Substitutes  Team roster sizes are unlimited.  There will be only 4 prizes.  ALL team members, coaches, and spectators are subject to ALL rules.  All players must sign the waiver to compete. Individual Team Waivers will be on hand at the rink when new players are added to the roster.  Players may only play for one team. Equipment  Required equipment (players): o Helmet with chin strap that is fastened (helmets must be securely strapped at all times during play) o Skates o Other protective equipment optional  All teams are encouraged to play in matching jerseys. Matching jerseys make it easier for the officials to identify and separate the teams on the ice. The Game Game Time  3 – Five (5) minute periods with a running clock.  In-between periods will have 1 minute breaks  The clock will only be stopped for injuries. 

Overtime In the event of a tie, there will be a five minute sudden death overtime to determine the winner, followed by a coin toss if the winner has not been determined.

Playing Rules  No checking.  No slapshots (anything above the knee is a slapshot).  No Goalie equipment or goalie sticks permitted.  Players cannot fall or lay on the ice in an effort to protect the goal area.  Players cannot contact the puck with a stick above the waist.  If a puck goes out of bounds, the last team to touch it losses possession. During restart, the defender must give his opponent 2-stick lengths space.  There are no off-sides or icing calls.  There will be an off-ice official to monitor play. Scoring  Nets will be tipped. The puck must go over the crossbar that is on the ice and through the open area of the net to be a goal.  Goals must be scored from the attacking side of center ice.  Teams must give their opponents half ice after a goal is scored or an infraction takes place Penalties  Penalties will be called on the honor system. There is no on-ice official to call penalties.  Penalties result in an “out of bounds” play in.  The off-ice supervisor will determine whether a major penalty or improper conduct is worth ejection from the tournament.
