2018 Spring Season - 3 rd /4 th Girls Team - 5 th /6 th Girls Team Lacrosse is the fastest growing youth sport in the U.S.A. This Spring program is for student athletes in 3rd-6th grade interested in learning how to play lacrosse. We are inviting all girls to join us; we will be focusing on the fundamental skills of the game; passing, catching, cradling, shooting, and defending. Players will learn the rules of the game and sportsmanlike conduc t. Basic concepts of the game such as offensive and defensive strategies/plays will be taught through games and fun drills. Volunteers Needed! Interested parents please contact us to get more involved. Each team will need a parentcoach. Lacrosse experience a plus but not required. Parent-coaches will be guided by HS Varsity Coach Tara Lahm and Modified coach Lauren LoConte and will obtain training through US Lacrosse. Please help out! Registration: To sign up: 1 . All players must first register as a youth on www.uslacrosse.org and pay $30 directly to US Lacrosse 2 . Create an account at www.valhallajrvikingslacrosse.com and register your player with the Club and pay $149 online. You will need to enter the US Lacrosse number to register.

Other: Equipment purchase required by parents though loaner equipment is available as needed. Limited roster space is available, first come first served

Duration: 9 weeks long – 7 weeks of practices/games and a 2 week afterschool clinic to wrap up the year which the girls love! 

Practices/Games: Scheduled to start April 9 (depending on field conditions) and continue through June 2



Afterschool End of Season Clinic: Monday-Thursday in Late May / Early June from 3:30 – 4:30 PM



Your child may participate as much or as little as their schedule and interest allows! Please join if you have conflicts, as long as you can make at least 1x per week!

Practices: 

Weekday schedule is set so as to allow Varsity players to act as mentors to youth players



Generally two or three times per week:



o

Monday and/or Wednesday 5:30 – 6:30 PM

o

Saturday 8:15-9:15 AM

Scheduled to start April 9 (depending on field conditions) and continue through June 23. No activities during Color run or Memorial Day weekend. Other scheduling changes may pop up due to field availability, scheduled games, weather, etc. and will be communicated



Location for practices is expected to be Valhalla High/Middle School campus fields

Games/Scrimmages: 

In a grade group, if there are enough players for a full team, a game schedule of approx. 4 to 5 games will be organized for April, May and June through Hudson Valley Lacrosse League



In a grade group, if there are NOT enough players for a full team, neighboring clubs will be contacted and a scrimmage schedule will bet attempted. Scrimmages are instructional, availability is at the discretion of neighboring clubs, and are not guaranteed.



Scrimmages/Games not played on Sundays so as to avoid other sports



In addition, teams may play in 1 to 2 Jamborees / Tournaments at the discretion of the coaching staff

Uniforms: 

Uniforms: Purchased as part of registration, $29. If returning player, do not need to purchase if last year fits!

Scholarship equipment is available, no questions asked, in limited quantities. Email us at valhallajrvikingslacrosse.com



In general, though, equipment is not supplied by the club and is the responsibility of each player. There are many starter sets available at Dick’s, Modell’s, etc. A common purchase is the STX Youth Starter Pack which also has a bag Required equipment includes: o



GIRLS: Girls Lacrosse stick, goggles, and mouth guard. Cleats are optional, don’t buy if you don’t already have

Other: 

Goalie: If your daughter is interested in playing goalie, please let us know as the Club will help supply equipment. Goalie equipment is not the parent’s responsibility.



Commemorative T-shirt or Trophy or similar: Provided by club keepsake purposes, at the budgetary discretion of the Club
