This is flag football. There is absolutely no contact. Remove yourself from competition if there is any question of injury. EMT staff is available on site and accessible at any time. Water, Gatorade® and bananas are available on each sideline. A generic mouthpiece will be provided to you at the reception. We highly encourage you to mold the mouthpiece that night and wear it the next day during the 7-on-7 tournament.
GENERAL RULES
Use the honor system wherever possible. Tournament bracket will be seeded based on skills competition results: 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5 Team that wins 7 on 7 tournament will be the Chiefs Fantasy Camp Champions. Seven players are on the field at a time, with substitutions occurring between downs. Jerseys must be tucked in. Flags must be worn on the waistline and should not be covered. Games will consist of two 10-minute halfs with a running clock, and a 5 minute halftime. Each team has one 30-second timeout, not to be used within two minutes remaining in the half. The timeout can be used for a team to rest, huddle up to talk strategy, or to make a last-minute substitution. Timeouts do not stop the clock; they simply extend the play clock for 30 seconds. If game is tied when time expires, there is no overtime. The better seed from skills competition advances. In Championship Game, there will be Sudden Death overtime. Team with better seed gets ball at 20 yd line with 4 downs to score. Possession then alternates starting at 20 yd line. First team to score wins.
OFFENSE
Each team will start at the 40-yard line going toward the end zone. A team has four downs to get to the 20-yard line, which is the only first down. Once past the 20-yard line, a team has four downs to get to the end zone. The ball is snapped by handing or passing the ball to a quarterback. The center is eligible to catch the ball. Two feet must be on the ground and the ball must be secured for it to be considered inbounds. Once the ball is caught, there is no downfield blocking. You can box out, but do not initiate contact. Each touchdown is worth one point.
DEFENSE
On the defensive side, the play is dead at the spot where the flag is removed. If the player with the ball goes to the ground, he/she is marked as down and the play ends immediately. Rushing the quarterback is allowed for those who start 7 yards back from line of scrimmage. The quarterback can only run the ball if there is a rusher past the line of scrimmage. Defensive turnover results in the ball going to the 40-yard line. Turnovers cannot be advanced.
BLOCKING DRILL Will Shields Block like an All Pro or your halfback will get tackled for a loss. Each participant will have three opportunities (at the lines of scrimmage and downfield) to make a critical block. Only successful blocks will earn the participant points.
HALFBACK/LINEBACKER READ DRILL Christian Okoye Run a halfback option through three routes: swing pass (line of scrimmage), bump and stab (5 yards) and play action flat (10 yards). Each participant will have two opportunities to make the catch before going to the next. Only one successful catch at each distance is needed to receive points.
FIELD GOAL KICKING Jan Stenerud Kick a field goal from 10 yards (extra point), 15 yards (left hash mark) and 20 yards (right hash mark). Each participant will have two opportunities at each kick before going to the next. Only one successful try at each distance is needed to receive points.
