So keep your cool and have patience, you will emerge as a winner. WittyFeed enlists the stages of break-up every relation goes through. Read on to find where are you.
Stage 1 : Shock
You get freaked out and just don't realize what has happened. It comes as a bolt from the blue and you're left clueless. Moreover, being on the receiving end of the break-up announcement is something that leaves you
astounded and bewildered as to what just happened. At this point, engage in meditation and go for walks, spend time with yourself.
Stage 2 : Denial
This is the second stage of a break-up. The break-up is still in its initial phase and you do not wish to accept or face it. This is when you deny reality and wish to store the feelings. You are not able to garner the courage to let the fact of break-up sink in. Do not act emotionally numb. Rise up to the situation, let your emotions out, share them with your friends. This is the stage where you feel there is still a chance for a reunion, which is not possible in reality.
Stage 3 : Isolation
You rewind the relationship in your head over and over again and try to find where it all went wrong. You find happiness in loneliness. Break-up slowly sinks in now. This is the dirty part of heartbreak. You feel no enthusiasm or excitement. Sitting in darkness and silence gives you peace. But, beware! Do not be lonely. It feels good to sit at home rather than to go out and accept that "it's over". But a better way to help yourself is to engage in work and social activities. Do not let negative and demeaning thoughts about yourself crowd your mind.
Stage 4 : Anger
This is the stage when you break out in retaliation to the break-up and hurt to your feelings. You feel like burning all the pictures of you guys together. You transit from being sad to being ragingly mad. You may indulge in selftalk about regret and anger. You wish to place the blame on the other. Instead, write, act or talk about your anger. Do not act otherwise, it may be harmful for you.
Stage 5 : Bargain
Break-up has finally sunk in. You now want to bargain with your partner and you wonder "What will it take to bring her/him back?" Let me tell you that all this is just to shoo away the temporary pain. Sometimes you pray and other times you introspect as to what caused the break-up. In such a time, make a plan of your future and list out the things you feel happy about.
Stage 6 : Depression
You indulge in deep thinking and hold the risk of turning to binge-eating or drinking. You realise the weight of loss and grief at this time, you are overwhelmed and cannot see anything except the break-up. The only feelings you are left with now are hopelessness, sadness and helplessness. It is time to surround yourself with positive people in your life and bring in sunshine. Abstain from staying alone.
Stage 7 : Acceptance
You accept the fact that "it's over" now. You let go of the person and keep no regrets. You look forward to a brighter future. You want to perform at your workplace, you set goals. Do not get depressed if you feel pangs of the relationship at some time, it is absolutely normal. Just stay positive. And yes, do not forget to celebrate your break-up. It is an awesome therapy!
