7th Grade Football Paperwork: Each Student must have a completed LISD physical form turned in to the coaching staff before participation in any sport. Physical forms can be picked up at Stiles Middle School or on-line at www.leanderisd.org. Also, each student must turn in a signed Acceptance of Rules form by Friday August 30 to continue participating in football. The LISD Athletic Handbook can be found on the LISD website (http://www.leanderisd.org/default.aspx?name=dept.athletics), and the Acceptance of Rules form is part of the LISD Physical form. Academic Performance: Academic success is the first priority for all student athletes. Furthermore, if a student fails any class for the 6 weeks, he will become ineligible for athletic participation. He can regain eligibility by passing all of his classes on the following progress report. Practice: It is the student’s / parent’s responsibility to arrange for transportation to early morning practices. Seventh grade students will be allowed to enter FSMS at 7:15 a.m. for football practice. They will have 15 minutes to suit up for practice. At 7:30 practice will begin and will last through first period. The athletes are expected to be on time and suited out properly for all practices. It is important to understand that missing practice will result in less playing time, or not playing in the game at all. Please provide a parent note and/or doctor’s note to the coaches to explain absences and injuries. Football practice will begin the second day of school. We will have morning practices every day except game day, and the morning after a game. The students can ride the bus to school on days that we do not have early practice. We will inform the students about changes to the practice schedule when appropriate. There will not be any practices before the school year. Practice will begin the second day of school. Games: All of the 7th grade games will be played on Tuesday nights, except for the last game that will be played on Monday, November 4. Home games will be played at Gupton Stadium and the away games will be played at the host schools site. The B team games will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the A team games will immediately follow. (Approximately 6:15). A schedule and directions will be provided at the fall parents meeting which will take place during the first few weeks of school. All students will be expected to ride the bus to and from the games. A note must be provided to the coaching staff prior to game day if you need to pick up your child after a game. You must also sign your student out immediately following the game. We request that you only use this option when it is absolutely necessary. All students who are eligible to play based on the athletic rules and attendance policies will play in the
game. Students who are not eligible to play in a game for any reason other than injury will not attend the game with the team. Equipment: We will provide each student with most of the necessary equipment for practice and games. However, each student is responsible for bringing the following items: 1. Football cleats. (please get black or white) 2. Towel, deodorant, soap, etc. 3. Jock strap or compression shorts. (Optional) Each student is financially responsible for all school-issued equipment. Each student will be issued a locker and a lock to secure his equipment. Student will be allowed to take their practice clothes home to be washed. Equipment day: We will pass out equipment to the seventh grade football team on Saturday August 24 at 12:00 p.m. We will issue equipment to any students that can’t attend this event after school begins. Student Health: Student health is the top priority for the Stiles Middle School coaching staff. We will always use extreme caution with injuries and student health. 7th grade athletes should get up early enough to eat breakfast before practice. Parent Involvement: There are many positive ways for parents to help out the coaches. Here is a list of help areas: 1. 2. 3. 4.
Chains at home games. Help monitor B team players in the bleachers after their game. Filming the game for the coaches. ( we have cameras) Concession stand workers in the game that does not involve your child.
Parents will have the opportunity to sign up for these help areas at the fall football parent meeting. We thank you in advance for your willingness to help our program. Please don’t hesitate to call or email if you have any questions. David Fambrough Athletic Coordinator Florence Stiles Middle School 570-3837
