2. Intersectionals, Zonals and National Teams:

Lisa Berg – gave great feedback on G18’s coach. The players loved the coaches experience coaching college tennis. Nigel Pugh – said the branding of Team NorCal is successful. The player enjoy representing the section, staying together in the hotel is important (some sections don’t do it). Feedback is to give the Player Evals to coaches before the trip – so they can complete whilst on the trip. Chris Arns – had a great experience with 14’s zonals and said the event was a great success. The Commission reviewed the ‘selection criteria’ and agreed there are improvements from last year in terms of having our best players on the teams. Riffice and Berg stated that cost, as well as timing (between clays and hards) is sometimes a reason why top players may not play. Chris Arns noted that players felt disheartened if players of their own age were playing up. The group agreed that we should create some standards that players must meet before they can play up – when representing the section (eg. top 5 in the section) DeVries noted that Texas give $500 to their players to attend a national championship. Also 3. Camps – 3 x RTC Camps … reports … Hubs and DeVries Player Identification – for 2013 level 1 camps - 2004/2005 – Orange (8, 9yrs) - 2002/2003 – Green/Orange (10,11yrs) - 2001/2000 – Yellow (12,13yrs) John Hubbell said we have done a better job of coach outreach – and pulling new coaches into the RTC camps. This is important to grow awareness of the program. Coach Hubbell wants the group to emphasize TAUT PD Camps and EDC camps so that we can identify/assist upcoming players. Lori Riffice – suggested that we make sure the personal coaches are involved in the feedback process. The recommendation for use of TAUT formats may not make it back to the coach. The section office can email all personal coaches with eval form, areas of focus and recommendations. This will help 10/u education! 4. Successful 10/U PD Camps recently held at – SCRA with Andrea Barnes and PSR with John Hubbell. -

EDC Camps – 6-10yrs. August 25th @SFTC is the next camp. Amy asks to send players along …

5. 10/U update – Nigel Pugh. Reminds the group that the perception is that its beginner tennis – its competitive tennis. The TAUT committee is working to have green ball into the 12’s. They are approving the Competitive Structure – for 2013 and will work with the Junior Council. TAUT Coach Development program – is also in the works. Nigel would love all of the coaches commission to be involved. This will help us identify who are the leaders and help us define a coaching pathway. August 23rd ‘Beyond Red Ball’ USPTA Specialty Course – looking for great attendance – bring staff! 6. 10’s Exchange – Sept 21 – 23rd, San Diego. Competition against SoCal, IM, and PNW. Also working on an Orange Exchange – hosted by Norcal – November. 7. RTC site selection process for 2013 – 2016.
