At each of our Sunday services we seek to bring the Bible to life with relevant teaching, in a context of thoughtful prayer and passionate worship. Most talks are recorded and may be downloaded from our website. At 8am we alternate traditional and contemporary liturgy for Holy Communion. At 9.15am we start with child-friendly praise and then our children and youth have their own groups. At 11am we choose a more traditional style led by our choir and organist. At 6.30pm our worship is informal in a café style context.

How God Speaks In the morning, we’ll be running a short series on the letter to the Philippians. This really encouraging and upbeat epistle was written towards the end of Paul’s life. Despite being written from jail, and despite addressing some difficult issues, the letter has a serenity and a transparent confidence in God that I think we may need to hear in troubled times. Rather than providing Small Group notes, I’d like to recommend two guides to Philippians. A Life Worth Living, by Nicky Gumbel and Charlie Mackesy, was written as a follow-up to the Alpha course and is based on Philippians. A more challenging read would be the BST commentary written by Alec Motyer called Message of Philippians: Jesus our Joy, which has a study guide included. Both are available from Amazon. In the evening, we’ll be running a longer series addressing the question of How God Speaks. Job 33: 14 reminds us that God is always speaking, in different ways, but we often fail to perceive what He wants to say. Taking passages from throughout the Scriptures, the series will seek to equip us to be more expectant in listening for His Word and more able to hear it. Mike Archer
