Theta Tau | Kansas State Winter 2014 Whatʼs Inside: Meet the VPAR | Amy Mull Harter | Events | Advisors Needed
A Note from the VPAR Hello! My name is Lauren Price and I am the new Vice President of Alumnae Relations for Theta Tau. I am so honored and excited to work with you this upcoming year! I have many ideas for this office and cannot wait to get started. To tell you a little bit more about myself, I am currently a junior at KSU majoring in print journalism with minors in French and public relations. When I am not in Manhattan I reside in Kansas City, specifically Prairie Village, KS. Joining Sigma Kappa as a freshman is one of the best decisions I made and I do not know what I would do without my sisters! If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at any time! My e-mail address is
[email protected]. I would love to hear from you! LISK, Lauren Price VP of Alumnae Relations
Take a Look Into Our Chapter
In Remembrance of Amy Mull Harter It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our beloved friend and sorority sister, Amy Mull Harter, Theta Tau member from 1991 to 1994. Monday, February 3, 2014 was a tough day for Sigma Kappas everywhere as they heard the news that Amy had been on board a fatal plane accident. Her father, mother, and sixteen year old daughter we’re flying to Bellevue, Tennessee when their plane went down. Her husband, Douglas S. Harter and son, Chase, are her survivors. While many still hold a heavy heart from the recent news, it is important to also focus on all of the good she did while she was still here and the joy she brought to so many. She was a mother of two and also a wife. Amy was also very active in her community and with the Theta Tau chapter of Sigma Kappa. She joined Sigma Kappa in the fall of 1991. When Amy was a junior she accepted the position of chapter president. The Theta Tau chapter was charted in 1991, so she was the 3rd president of the chapter, from 1993 to 1994. Along with being an outstanding member of Sigma Kappa, Amy was very involved in Pawnee County’s 4-‐H. She served as a Fair Board Member, a foundation member, a club leader, and a project leader. If you would like, memorials may be given to the Pawnee County 4-‐H, in care of the Beckwith Mortuary, P.O. Box 477, Larned, KS 67550.

Wanted: Officer Advisors! Calling all Sigma Kappas! The Theta Tau chapter is currently in need of multiple advisors to assist some of our officers with their positions. Officer advisors are extremely helpful and our women would be lost without your guidance. The positions currently available are advisors for the Vice President of Alumnae Relations, Panhellenic Delegate, House Manager, Public Relations chair, Triangle Correspondent, Ritual chair, and our Junior Panhellenic Delegate. Most of these positions do not require a huge time commitment; it’s just around an hour to three hours a month! Other positions do require more of a time commitment, but it also gives you the opportunity as an alumna to have more input with the chapter and its functions. Along with that, all advisors would be members of the Advisory Board where you would be helping in making decisions that directly affect the chapter! Being an advisor would be such a huge help to the members of Sigma Kappa! If you are even the slightest bit interested or have any questions at all, please feel free to e-‐mail Regan Rose, the Advisory Board Chairman, at
[email protected]. She will be able to answer any further questions you may have. Thank you for all of the help and work you do!
Alumnae Announcements! Amy Carpenter Keheller (’98) and her husband, Mike, welcomed their twins, Michael and Cecilia, into the world last year, on February 18th, 2013. They will celebrate their first birthday next week! Mom, Dad, the twins, and their older sister Victoria are all doing great! Congratulations!
