FULL HEARTS. • The No. 18/19 Boston University men’s lacrosse team will make continue its historic fourth season on Friday night when the third-seeded Terriers face second-seeded Army West Point in a Patriot League semifinal contest hosted at Loyola Maryland. • Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. ALWAYS NICE TO WIN THE FIRST ONE • Playing in their first-ever postseason game, the Terriers defeated sixth-seeded Lehigh, 10-4, on Tuesday night in a PL quarterfinal contest. • The teams were tied, 3-3, at halftime before BU finished the game on a 7-1 run. • Senior Christian Carson-Banister made 11 saves, and along with a stellar defensive effort, held the Mountain Hawks scoreless for a stretch of 43:47, lasting from the beginning of the second quarter to the final seconds of regulation. • Sophomore James Burr notched a career-high five points after he matched career highs in goals (4) and assists (1). • Senior Cal Dearth (3g, 2a) also had five points while junior Ryan Hilburn (1g, 2a) and freshman John MacLean (2g, 1a) each tallied three points. • Senior Greg Wozniak won six ground balls and forced three turnovers. • The entire close defense unit was exceptional, as senior Dominick Calisto, sophomore Quintin Germain and senior Cam Pincus combined to keep Lehigh’s starting attack unit without a single point. LAST TIME AGAINST ARMY • BU held a late one-goal lead at No. 6/8 Army West Point, but the Black Knights scored the final two goals of the game to earn an 11-10 victory on April 8. • Junior Jack Wilson scored four goals and added an assist for a five-point day. • Senior Christian Carson-Banister made 16 saves and assisted on sophomore James Burr’s goal at the halftime buzzer. • Burr finished with three points (2g, 1a). • Junior Joe Stucky was 13-of-24 at the faceoff X with five ground balls. • Eight different Terriers recorded a point. • Cal Dearth scored a goal and was one of three players who collected three ground balls. • Seniors Allen Winkoff and Greg Wozniak also had three ground balls and each player added a caused turnover. SECOND TIME IS THE CHARM • BU is 1-for-1 in revenge games this season, defeating Lehigh on Tuesday after losing to the Mountain Hawks in the regular season. • The Terriers will look to avenge another road loss this year on Friday against the Black Knights. • Army West Point remains the only team in the Patriot League that the Terriers have not defeated. • BU bested Lehigh for the first time ever on Tuesday night after four losses.

HISTORY WITH ARMY • The Terriers are in search of their first win against Army West Point. • In addition to the one-goal loss this past April, BU also played the Black Knights close in 2014, suffering an 8-7 setback. BEST OF BU AGAINST ARMY WEST POINT • Ryan Hilburn leads all active Terriers in goals (6) and points (8). • Jack Wilson is next with seven points and five goals while Cal Dearth leads BU with five helpers and is third with six points. • Greg Wozniak leads BU in both ground balls (13) and caused turnovers (10) against Army, with Dominick Calisto (11 GB, 6 CT) second in both categories. SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS • Army West Point had a chance at homefield advantage this weekend, but the Black Knights suffered a 14-6 home loss to Loyola Maryland on April 21. • That was their second straight loss after a nine-game win streak, though the last two wins of that streak (Bucknell, BU) were both one-goal triumphs. • Dan Grabher is the PL Faceoff Specialist of the Year after going 149-of-235 (63.7%) this year, good for sixth in the NCAA. • Cole Johnson leads Army in goals (25), assists (17) and points (42) while Nate Jones and David Symmes are tied for second with 28 points apiece. • Johnny Surdick was a first-team all-league selection at close defense after securing 32 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers. • AJ Barretto has started all 13 games in the cage, posting an 8.17 GAA and a .510 save percentage.
POLLEY NAMED COACH OF THE YEAR • Head coach Ryan Polley was honored Monday as the 2017 Patriot League Coach of the Year. • Polley guided the Terriers to their best-ever record at 11-3 en route to securing a home game in the program’s first Patriot League tournament appearance. • BU boasts a top-15 defense and top-20 offense nationally under Polley’s guidance. SIX TERRIERS EARN ALL-LEAGUE HONORS • A record six Terriers earned All-Patriot League honors on Monday, including three first-team selections. • Senior Christian Carson-Banister was unanimously chosen as Goalkeeper of the Year and earned a spot of the first team with classmates Dominick Calisto and Cal Dearth. • Dearth was also a unanimous selection. • Senior Greg Wozniak, junior Jack Wilson and sophomore Brendan Homire garnered second-team honors. THEY CAN HANDLE THINGS THEY’RE SMART • Senior Christian Carson-Banister and junior Jack Wilson were both named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team on Wednesday afternoon. • Carson-Banister boasts a 3.27 grade-point average and will graduate in May with a degree in international relations. • Wilson, a two-time Academic All-PL honoree, owns a 3.42 GPA while majoring in business administration and management. • BU was one of just two schools to place two or more athletes on the Academic AllPatriot League Team.

2017 boston university LACROSSE www.GoTerriers.com BURR BRINGING THE HEAT • Sophomore James Burr has been one of the Terriers’ best players since being inserted into the starting lineup. • Playing at attack over the last four games, Burr has tallied 12 goals and three assists for 15 points. • Burr has also shot 60 percent (12-of-20) in those four tilts. • He secured a career-high five points on Tuesday against Lehigh thanks to four goals and one assists, both of which matched career highs. • A native of Hamilton, Massachusetts, Burr has notched four goals in each of the last two games and enters Friday with 22 goals and seven assists for 29 points. CARSON-BANISTER SAVING THE DAY • Senior Christian Carson-Banister was named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year on Monday, and backed that up with an 11-save performance on Tuesday. • Carson-Banister kept Lehigh scoreless for over 43 straight minutes. • He also combined with the Terrier defense to keep Lehigh to a mere four goals, the stingiest performance in program history. • The Dallas, Texas, native enters Friday ranked third in the country in save percentage at .600. • He is also 10th in the country and first in the PL with a goals-against average of 7.96, and his 11.60 saves per game is second in the PL and 15th in the NCAA. THE FORCE IS WITH DEARTH • Senior Cal Dearth is in the midst of a career year for the Terriers. • A unanimous First Team All-Patriot League selection, Dearth has tallied a career-high 52 points thanks to a careerhigh 35 goals in addition to 17 assists. • Dearth has been red hot of late, scoring 12 goals over the last three games, and he now ranks 10th in the country in total goals with 35. • The Ridgefield, Connecticut native has yet to be held without a goal in 15 games this season. WILSON’S STREAK IN TACT • Junior Jack Wilson extended his point streak to 41 games with an assist on Tuesday against Lehigh. • Wilson has only been held without a point once in his entire career. • In those 41 games, Wilson has tallied 67 goals and 43 assists for 110 points. • This season, Wilson has set career highs in goals (25), assists (17) and points (42).
CAN’T SPELL DOMINATE WITHOUT DOM • Senior Dominick Calisto, certainly earned his First Team All-Patriot League selection. • He gathered two ground balls and caused one turnover on Tuesday while holding Matt Raposo (14g, 21a) without a point. • Calisto also kept the unanimous PL Offensive Player of the Year, Pat Spencer of Loyola Maryland, to just one assist in a 12-11 overtime win over the Greyhounds on April 15. • Prior to that, Calisto held Harvard’s Morgan Cheek (35g, 26a) to a mere two points on March 21. • He enters Friday with 32 ground balls and a team-high 23 caused turnovers in addition to his reputation as one of the top cover men in the conference, if not the entire country. LOTS OF GOALS FROM LOTS OF GUYS • No other team in the nation boasts more goal scorers than Boston University. • Entering Friday, 24 different Terriers have found the back of the net. • Seniors Cam Pincus and Jack Beall were the two most recent players to add their names to that list, both scoring on April 21 against Holy Cross.
