“By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, ‘It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.’ Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.” Hebrews 11:17-19

Jesus’ Story
2000 years B.C., Jesus’ ancestor, Abraham, went to Mount Moriah to offer his son’s life out of obedience to God.
Matthew’s Christmas story begins with Jesus, God’s gift to us, being born as a baby in the shadow of Mount Moriah.
Matthew’s Christmas story ends on that same mountain, with Jesus offering his life as a sacrifice for the sins of all humanity, for all those who have faith to believe that Jesus died to pay the penalty for their sins.
Our Story We have a chance to be connected to the original Christmas story if our celebration is rooted in ____________________________ for Jesus’ sacrifice for our forgiveness. Pause and be warmed by God’s love for you! He gave his own son’s life for you. Let thanks and gratitude well up in you. Be surprised again by the awe and wonder of a God who loved you before you even knew he existed. Stand and see the generosity of God. Allow his gift to melt your pride and independence. Be overwhelmed with God’s tremendous offer of forgiveness and eternal life! Today we give thanks if we are rooted in the original Christmas story.
