General Requirements - The author of the abstract must be younger than 36 at the date of submission. - ESOI membership in 2018 is required to submit an abstract. - Registration to OIC.8 is mandatory in order to present an oral / poster abstract. Abstract Submission Details - Abstracts must be received by Wednesday, April 11, 2018. - Abstracts must be sent via email to the ESOI Office at [email protected] - An abstract may only be submitted once. Duplicate abstracts (reporting the same data) that are submitted under a different title or author will be vetted and will not be considered. - Abstracts should be thoroughly checked for spelling and grammar First Author - An individual may submit more than one abstract in which he or she is indicated as the presenting author. - The submitting author will receive all notifications and communications related to the accepted abstract(s), and is responsible for informing all co-authors of acceptance. - All presenters, including poster presenters, are required to register and attend the meeting. - Potential conflicts with commercial interest for the first author and all co-authors must be disclosed at the time of submission. - The submitting/presenting author of an abstract must NOT have a financial interest in the scientific content in the abstract. If a conflict of interest exists, the abstract must be submitted and presented by a co-author with no relevant financial relationship or any commercial interest. - If the presenting author is employed by a commercial interest, as defined above, an alternate presenter must be named.
Presentation Type Abstracts may be submitted as oral or poster presentations. Please note that if an abstract is unsuccessful for oral presentation it can be considered for a poster presentation. Each presenting author can submit as many abstracts as they wish.
Abstract Themes Presentations can be submitted to the below themes. You are required to select which theme your abstract most suits. When sending your abstract(s) to the ESOI Office, please make sure to also complete and send the abstract submission form. Format for oral / poster abstract Word document (Arial, 11 pt) Language: English Title limit: 180 Body limit: 400 words No pictures/tables allowed - Purpose/Objectives - Methods & Materials - Results - Conclusion and clinical relevance - Authors Institution names should not be included in the title or body of the abstract in order to keep the review process blind, fair and objective. Alternative language is “at one institution” or “a multi-institution” study, etc.
Review of Submissions All submissions will be sent for peer review by a panel of experts. Each abstract will be reviewed and scored by reviewers. The reviewers will determine which abstracts are accepted and best suited for oral presentation or poster presentation.
Notification to Authors - Authors will be notified of acceptance by May 3, 2018. Acceptance of the abstract by the committee obligates the author to present the paper and pay the course registration fee. If circumstances prevent attendance, the ESOI Office must be notified and alternate presenter, preferably a co-author shall be arranged. - Oral presentations must be given during the “Imaging Biomarkers” Session on June 27, held between 14:30 and 17:40. It is not possible to change the date, time or type of presentation. - Presenters must register for the course by 16 May, 2018 the latest. - Presenters of poster abstracts are responsible to print their posters in A1 size and bring them to the course. - If you choose to withdraw your abstract, please email your request by May 16, 2018, to the ESOI Office. After this date, your abstract will be published.
