Dear Central Saanich, My name is Adam Olsen. I am seeking re-election to Central Saanich Council and I am asking for your support.

Re-ELECT

ADAM OLSEN

I am proud of the work I have done on behalf of Central Saanich over the past three years and I enjoy being a Councillor. I am inspired by the discussions I have with community members and would be humbled if selected to a seat at the Council table for a second term. We have had our challenges but there have been many accomplishments as well. I am positive about the opportunities we have going forward. I believe I have proven to be a good Councillor and have worked hard to build relationships across political, social and cultural barriers. I am a collaborative, open communicator, a transparent decision maker and tireless networker. I have been effective at the Council table and made connections across multiple jurisdictions and agencies to plug our concerns and ideas into broader initiatives. If you would like to talk further about our community, would like more information, to donate or volunteer for my campaign, please visit www.adamolsen.ca, call me at 250-889-7678 or email me at [email protected]. Sincerely, Adam Olsen Councillor, District of Central Saanich

Re-ELECT ADAM OLSEN INFORMED DECISIONS

ECONOMIC

I will continue to work hard to ensure my decisions are informed and transparent. I am committed to the extra research and phone calls, emails and extended coffee chats that are required to get it right!

I am committed to finding solutions to increase agricultural viability. I will work with farmers to increase production/profitability on their land.

I am accessible, and that includes how I vote on an issue. I am willing to discuss with anyone how I arrived at my decision. I will continue to build connections in the community and across jurisdictions to ensure Central Saanich interests are recognized.

ABOUT ADAM OLSEN Adam Olsen comes from a family who is deeply involved in their community. Raised on Tsartlip First Nation in the 1980’s, Adam lives on the same property with his wife Emily, son Silas, his three siblings and their families. Adam’s mixed heritage is of great value to him, his upbringing has taught Adam to approach issues from all sides and to welcome all voices. Adam is a Councillor and work from home father. He has worked in communications for the past six years. His career began in sports at The Sports Network (TSN) in Toronto, ON and continued with the ECHL Salmon Kings and Aboriginal Sport and Recreation Association of BC. Recently Adam has been working as a consultant in First Nations housing. As a community leader and father of a young family, Adam understands this beautiful place belongs to us and future generations and I will continue to work diligently for his community.

Develop a long-term plan for the Keating Business Park to make the best use of commercial and industrial land. I will be an effective voice in lobbying senior governments to assist local governments in renewing the aging infrastructure our economy relies on.

INCREASED COMMUNICATIONS

ENVIRONMENTAL

I am committed to improving communications and will continue to encourage pro-active and open dialogue from Council and staff to our residents and the media.

I will continue to encourage a better relationship with our natural environment, as it is critical to our well-being and the livability of our region.

I support increased accessibility to Council information and greater access to community meetings. (See www.adamolsen.ca/updates for my meeting reports.)

I believe in managing growth in the District through a commitment to focussed land use planning and making the best use of the land we have already developed.

I encourage more Town Halls, and more effective, community discussions with residents. I encourage early consultation by developers with their neighbours.

I will continue to work with community groups and volunteer organizations and support their effort through policy and network building.

COMMUNITY MINDED

SOCIAL

My interest is in the health and well-being of our whole community, and I am devoted to making balanced decisions.

I seek common ground and commit to nurturing connections between community members.

I will continue to work in a collaborative spirit with my colleagues at Council. I am dedicated to building broad support across political, social and cultural barriers to benefit all.

I believe in supporting community gatherings, the arts and cultural expression. I am devoted to making decisions for today but as a young father I understand that our place is also for future generations.
