Aduro enables real-time, dynamic thermal and electrical studies in a fast, versatile, and easy-to-use package. The system allows you to develop products faster, understand materials better and accomplish more meaningful research. The system is compatible with new and existing microscopes and can bring expanded capability to your existing investment. Not only can you achieve better resolution but also quantifiably better analysis and results. If you want to develop materials that will change the world, Aduro is the best platform for you.
Aduro Capabilities We designed the new Aduro platform to maximize the effectiveness of our E-chip technology, which provides users with enhanced functionality and flexibility. All versions of the platforms use the same Aduro E-chips™, allowing for correlative studies between TEM and SEM. Aduro is a very flexible and versatile tool and it can heat or measure electrical properties of samples by simply changing E-chips. The user has complete control of the stimuli through a powerful and easy to use software interface. The software interface comes with the capability to adjust temperature, current and voltage, or to build your own profiles for repeat studies. Aduro features open and closed loop temperature modes, allowing the user to select the optional mode for their experimental need. The thermal E-chips’ unique membrane heater provides extremely high thermal stability and low drift to let you reach the maximum resolution your microscope, even at temperatures over 1000 °C. In addition to having highly accurate temperatures, Aduro can heat and quench at any rate up to 1000 °C per millisecond, capturing material changes and dramatically increasing your productivity. The Aduro 500 is the premier system for in situ heating and electrical biasing. The power supply, holder and all cables are optimized for the ultra-low currents necessary to perform in situ electrical research. The newly released next generation of Aduro electrical E-chips feature many electrode layouts for biasing experiments and is optimized to reduce current leakage to preserve signal integrity. Aduro is quantitative and compatible with many different analytical tools like EDS, EELS, STEM and diffraction techniques. A double tilt option is available on all Aduro systems, providing ±10 ° of beta tilt.

Poseidon Liquid and electrical control within the microscope
Dynamic Imaging and Electrochemistry Studies of Hydrated Materials Poseidon enables high resolution spatial and compositional analysis of materials and biological samples in a self-contained and fully hydrated flowing and mixing chamber, directly within the TEM. Samples and processes that previously required freezing or could not be imaged in their native environment can now be studied and observed in liquid and at high resolutions. From hydrated materials such as inks and paints, to biological materials including viruses and whole cells Poseidon allows you to quickly and easily load samples in a sealed environment and image within the TEM. The Poseidon 510 Electrochemistry cell, adds to the capabilities of the Poseidon 210 by integrating a low noise electrochemical system so users can perform an array of electrochemical experiments inside the TEM. With Poseidon you can do more, see more and discover more with your existing instrument by greatly increasing the utility of your microscope.
Poseidon Capabilities Poseidon products are compatible with a broad range of materials and biological samples. The Poseidon 210 liquid cell sample chamber can be configured for flow, mixing, or static operation simply by exchanging the Poseidon E-chips. The unique properties of these E-chips and the sample chamber design enable high resolution imaging of specimens in dynamic liquid environments, bridging the gap between cryo-EM and light microscopy, and provides compositional analysis capability through EDS and EELS. Poseidon can be used to flow a sample or solvent through the chamber using the 2-port system, or introduce additional reagents for mixing with the 3-port system. Researchers can dynamically modify the sample’s liquid environment during imaging with precise control of flow rates. The result is a unique ability to realize a variety of sample environments and image mixing processes in real time. Protochips has developed sample preparation techniques to enable the deposition or chemical attachment of particles or other materials directly on the E-chips. Poseidon 210 combined with our new Microwell E-chips are ideal to image both light and heavy elements with unprecedented resolution. The Poseidon 510 Electrochemistry cell takes liquid research to the next level by introducing electrochemistry capabilities. Working with Gamry, a world leader in electrochemistry products, Protochips brings precision potentiostat/galvanostat instruments to the in situ environment. The Poseidon platform is compatible with both TEM and STEM imaging. The E-chip devices are also compatible with standard tissue culture techniques, sterilization procedures, and surface modification chemistries.

Atmosphere Pressure and temperature within the microscope
Environmental Microscopy at Elevated Temperatures and Gas Pressures The transmission electron microscope enables an unparalleled view of the atomic-scale world, and has led to countless discoveries of new materials and phenomena. The TEM requires high vacuum to operate, which in most cases is a limiting factor since it does not represent realworld conditions. To understand true material behavior and obtain the highest quality quantitative information, analysis must be completed under conditions that mimic the natural environment. The Protochips Atmosphere 200 system liberates new and existing TEMs from the limitations imposed by the vacuum, enabling users to study a wide variety of materials in a precisely controlled gas environment, at pressures up to 1 atm. View material dynamics and gas-solid reactions in real time, while adjusting the pressure and temperature systematically with easy to use software. The automatic closed-loop temperature control ensures accurate temperature regardless of gas species and pressure. Atmosphere integrates our ultra-stable thin film heating membrane capable of temperatures up to 1000ºC at all pressures. Make your next breakthrough discovery by taking full advantage of the resolving power of your microscopes, with true atomic resolution analysis under realworld operating conditions.
Atmosphere 200 Capabilities The Atmosphere system is a fully automated E-cell based environmental accessory compatible with most major TEMs. With Atmosphere you can safely and routinely reach 1 atm even at high temperatures, a much higher pressure than conventional ETEMs, while preserving the ability to achieve atomic-scale resolution. The Atmosphere software provides an easy-to-use, easily trainable interface with experimental workflows that ensure the safe and reliable operation of the system.
