Reflections of His Life

Mr. Izell “Zell” Stevenson, 60, was born March 30, 1956 in Hopkins, South Carolina to the late Mabel Stevenson. He departed this life on September 30, 2016 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina. Izell, was raised in Hopkins, better known as “Barbertown”. He attended school in Richland School District One and was employed by Owens Steel of Columbia for 15 years.

Later in life, when Zell’s health started to decline, he began living with his aunt, Susie Booker after she relocated back to Hopkins from New York in 1998. Ms. Susie Booker was Izell’s primary caregiver for almost 20 years and was by his side at the time of his passing.

Mr. Stevenson was predeceased by his mother, Mable Stevenson of New York. He is survived by three brothers: Michael Stevenson of Hopkins, South Carolina, Kenneth Charles Stevenson and Fred Henry, both of New York; and a sister, Bernadette (Cliff) Horton of Texas. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his step-grandmother, Martha Davis; his aunts: Laura Mack, Susie Booker, Vermell (James) Chapman, Patricia Davis, Linda Davis, Sylvialene (Terrance) Brown and Debra Ann Young, all of Hopkins, South Carolina; his uncles: John “Uncle June” Stevenson, Jr., Maybank (Ruby) Howell, and Lewis, Calvin and Sam Davis, all of Hopkins, South Carolina; and a host of other loving relatives and caring friends who pray that he rests in peace. In loving memory of loved ones close to Izell’s heart who have passed on: Jessie Bell Jordan, aunt Kenneth “Big Kenny” Jordan, cousin Willie “Double G” Jordan, cousin Joseph “Big Joe” or “Catfish” Stevenson, uncle Oliver James “O.J.” Stevenson Joseph “Lil Joe” Stevenson, cousin Earl Carter, uncle Willie Earl Stevenson, cousin
