Use simple fieldwork and observational skills to study the geography of their school and its grounds and the key human and physical features of its surrounding environment Explore our own ‘personal geographies’ by mapping our own homes and gardens from memory to help refine our sense of space and position Use aerial photographs of Marsh Baldon to identify key physical features Create our own maps of our journeys to school Revise our knowledge of the geography of the UK – identifying the 4 countries and physical features
Find out about and describe the basic needs of animals, including humans, for survival (water, food and air) Find out describe the importance for humans of exercise, eating the right amounts of different types of food, and hygiene Recognise how humans, have offspring which grow into adults Learn to identify, name, draw and label the basic parts of the human body and say which part of the body is associated with each sense
As artists and designers we will:
Learn about why Guy Fawkes plotted to explode The Houses of Parliament Learn about events that are beyond living memory that are significant nationally Learn about the history of Marsh Baldon and the school Identify and describe how we have changed throughout our lives
Study a range of artists who have been successful in the discipline of self-portraiture, describing the differences and similarities between different techniques and media Using a range of media to create our own self portraits
As writers we will:
Discuss the imagery used by poets as we explore poetry of the senses and Autumn poetry Use our senses to help springboard ideas to write poetry Use nature walks to help inspire ideas for writing poetry and other descriptive writing Writing letters as part of a time capsule Labelling diagrams and maps
