September is here and its back-to-school and preparations begin for the holidays. It’s also time for the shop to take a much-needed break. We will be closed September 6-8, 2012. We will resume our regular schedule on Monday, September 10th.

NEW ARRIVALS FABRIC

Newly arrived fabrics include Lazy Daisy Basket, Picnic Party and Tea Room by Robert Kaufmann. All About Coffee by Exclusively Quilters arrived this week also. Bigi will have Little Red Barns on September 1st and Anita Goodesign on September 2nd. Susan will not be here this month for Appliqué Workshop, but will be here on the 15th for Southern Gentleman and Mrs. Lincoln’s Sampler. Charm Swap Club will meet on September 19th. Women of Courage workshop will be held on September 22nd. Sew What’s New is a free demo class that introduces a new ruler, notion or technique and will be held on September 21st. Sensational Sampler class will be on September 24th. Stack-n-Whack class will be held on September 29th and Kathy will be here on September 30th for a Leaf Bowls class.

BOOKS We want to remind you of the San Diego Quilt Show this month. There will be a Preview Night on September 12th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the show begins on September 13th through the 15th. We never forget that without you we wouldn’t be here. Thank you for your continued support.

WHAT’S HAPPENING QUILTER’S TEA Sept 1st; 10:30 a.m. Join us on the First Saturday of each month for a fun time. We have a variety of teas, sharing and hear the latest happenings at the shop.

APPLIQUE’ CLUB Come and appliqué with this group that has a true passion and talent for the art. Also on this night, a group will be meeting to work on the International Sunbonnet Sue quilt.

CRABAPPLE HILL EMBROIDERY Every Thursday (please check calendar for exact dates); 1 - 3 p.m. This group of ladies meets every week to work on their latest Crabapple Hill project. They are currently working on A Gardener’s Alphabet Blocks.

CHARM SWAP Sept 19th; 6 p.m. An oldie but a goodie is making a return. We are restarting our Charm Swap Club. Sign up and bring in your charms. The requirement: bring in three 6” quilt-shop-quality squares for the number of participants. There are two categories—Themed and Batiks. Each month we will give you what the upcoming theme will be. For September the theme is Fall/Halloween and for October, the theme will be Wine Country (purple, green, ecru). When you sign up, you will receive a folder with all the details.

SEW WHAT’S NEW Sept 21st; 10:30 a.m. or 6 p.m. See what’s new in the quilting industry. Our plan is to show you new techniques and some new notions to spark your creativity, learn something new and have fun while doing so. This is a free class and it will happen two times a day.

WOMEN OF COURAGE WORKSHOP Sept 22nd; 10:30 - 1:30 p.m. Come in and join this group to help you with your Women of Courage blocks. This is a free workshop for those who are a part of our Women of Courage Block of the Month.

SEW NUTZ Sept 28th; 5 - 7 p.m. Join us for a night of sewing, stitching, appliqué or anything your heart desires, or just come and hangout with girls and catch up!

BLOCKS OF THE MONTH Christmas Town We are introducing a new block of the month for Machine Embroidery. Come with us on this journey through the whimsical lanes of Christmas Town. The price of the block of the month is $9.25 and includes all fabrics. Thread and stabilizer are not included. Software purchase is required ($89.99). November start date.

CRITTER CHRISTMAS Sept 25th; 5 - 7 p.m. We started this Block of the Month in March. Each block is $12.99 and includes fabric for each block, sashing, borders, and binding. Book purchase is required. Come in and take a look at the sample blocks that we have completed!

WOMEN OF COURAGE Saturday, Sept 22, 10:30 a.m. Workshop Women of Courage recognizes women of our history who exhibited bravery and courage from Sacajawea to Mary Roberts Wilson. Join us through this trek in history. Each month you will receive all fabric for the block, pattern and a brief history depicting the woman being featured. The final month will include your border and binding. The backing is optional. Approx. 98” x 98” Cost is $22.99 without backing and $27.99 with backing. Sign up soon, space is limited. SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN (GOES WEST) Saturday, Sept 15th; 10 a.m.; Class $20; Kit available for $18.99 Susan Prioleau will take you on a journey of 16 Blocks with Southern Gentleman. Susan will add her own spin of California color. Pattern purchase is required, see the shop for details.

MRS. LINCOLN’S SAMPLER Saturday, Sept15th, 2012; 1 p.m.; Class $20; Kit available for $18.99 Mrs. Lincoln’s Sampler provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our quilting heritage by creating a sampler quilt that combines appliqué and machine piecing.

CLASSES SEPTEMBER LITTLE RED BARNS September 1st; 1 - 4 p.m.; $20 Each barn in "Little Red Barns" has it's own theme. "Animal Junction” has four farm friends piggy-backed in the doorway of the barn. "The Country Spool" has a quilt on the barn side & a spool of thread on the weathervane. "Lucky’s Barn" has Lucky the horse and a horseshoe over the door. And "Liberty Farm" has fireworks for sale! Patterns is required.

ANITA GOODESIGN CLUB September 2nd; 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. Come and join the fun in making a new project each month. This will be a make-and-take class. There will be a nominal fee to non-members.

Turn a Sweat Shirt into Cardigan Jacket (Machine Embroidery) September 16th; 11:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; $30 Time to take that sweat shirt and turn into a seasonal or everyday Cardigan Jacket. It’s fun and easy.

SENSATIONAL SAMPLER September 24th; 6 p.m.; $20 We’ve brought back an oldie but a goodie. This wonderful sampler is made in the course of 10 months.

STACK N WHACK September 29th; 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.; $20 Stack-n-Whack is an easy way to create quilt blocks with unique kaleidoscope designs. Book purchase required.

LEAF BOWLS September 30th; 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. $20.00 Combine your scraps, threads and imagination to create a bowl inspired by nature. Pattern and stabilizer purchase required.
