of the Year: Colton Loomis; Community Service Award: Cross Country & Track & Field team; Coach of the Year: Rocke Musgraves; and Orrin E. Hills Male Athlete Award: Julio Castillo. The L.E.S. Women's Track Award and Wesley O. Young Track Award winners will be named after the NCAA National outdoor meet later this month. TRACK & FIELD: NNU was in fine form at the Idaho/Utah Border Clash hosted by Boise State, turning in 5 NCAA performances and 3 new school records. Leading the way was Payton Lewis who cleared 17 feet, 0.75 inches in the pole vault, an automatic NCAA qualifying mark and new school record. Adding a school record in the javelin was Ellie Logan with a throw of 151-11, an NCAA provisional mark, and Taylor Deskins in the 100 meters as she became the first Crusader woman to break the 12-second barrier, running an NCAA time of 11.95 seconds. Adding NCAA marks was Hoberg, who cleared 6-9 in the high jump, and Forza, who had a throw of 135-9 in the javelin. ON TAP: 5 Crusader student-athletes are competing in the GNAC Multi-Event Championships, which began Monday and conclude today. Then NNU is at the GNAC Championship meet on May 13-14 hosted by Western Oregon. BASEBALL: Talk about a roller-coaster. First, the Crusaders won a first-place battle with Western Oregon, beating the Wolves 3-of-4 games. Then NNU was swept on the road by Central Washington as the Wildcats leap-frogged NNU and WOU into the GNAC lead. Against the Wolves, Ryan Johnson led the way earning Player of the Week honors as he was 9-of-16 with 5 RBIs and a home run. Tyler Davis added 8 hits, 6 RBIs and a home run for NNU, which also got homers from Drew Helmstadter, Brett Nielsen and Josh Hatfield in the slugfests as the Crusaders won 6-5 on a Tucker Campbell walk-off single, 14-10 in comeback fashion, and 9-6. Ryan Nyborg, Ross Clevenger and Blake Mitchell all earned wins on the hill and Colton Loomis had a save. Against the Wildcats, nothing went NNU's way as they fell 13-6, 6-5, 8-2 and 11-7. Spencer Pollock led the offense, going 8-for-16 with 5 RBIs, while Johnson, Tim Jones and Davis all hit a homer for NNU. ON TAP: The biggest weekend of the year is here: Concordia visits for doubleheaders Photo by Kari Stetson on Thursday and Friday and the Crusaders could win the GNAC title, end up missing the Blake Mitchell pitches against WOU. playoffs, or finish anywhere in between depending on the results on the diamond. NNU split with the Cavaliers in Portland, Ore., last month, falling 8-4 and 3-2 on Friday before rebounding for 9-4 and 8-6 wins on Saturday. The Crusaders are tied with Western Oregon and MSU Billings for 2nd, 3rd and 4th. All are 1 game back of Central Washington, and CWU and WOU play head-to-head this weekend. GOLF: NNU wrapped up its season with a pair of 4th-place finishes at the GNAC Championships in Coeur d'Alene. Keynan Fanslow, Michael Delie and Jack Strickland, who shot a single-round school record of 6-under 65, led NNU. Fanslow tied for 6th at 3-under 210, Strickland was 8th at 1-under 212, and Delie tied for 10th at 3-over 216 as the Crusader men shot an 11-over 863 for the 54-hole championships. Strickland and Fanslow also each earned All-GNAC honors. On the women's side, NNU tied for 4th at 76-over 644, led by Samantha Miller's top-10 finish. Miller tied for 7th at 15over 157. Miller also earned All-GNAC honors. SOFTBALL: With a 9-5 win on Saturday, April 23, in Montana against MSU Billings, the Crusaders finished the season matching the program's second-most wins with 17. A building season for a program that started as many as 7 freshmen at times, NNU was led by GNAC Freshman of the Year Kylie Orr, who was 10th in the GNAC in batting average at .393. JC transfer Brooke Bonsen led the way in the circle for NNU, earning co-GNAC Newcomer of the Year honors, and freshman Cassidy Fifield led the GNAC and set a school record with 26 stolen bases, earning All-GNAC honorable mention honors. Track dedication set for this Thursday

The Crusaders have benefited from the generosity of the Bohner's all spring, and even got the chance to "christen" their new track by hosting the NNU Invitational on April 16. Now on Thursday, Northwest Nazarene officially will dedicate the Brian and Nichole Bohner Track with a ceremony at 4 pm. The Bohner's generosity made it possible to resurface the track on NNU campus, and also create a grand entry-way to the outdoor sports complex that hosts the track, NNU soccer field and Halle Softball Field. The ceremony will be at the new Brian and Nichole Bohner Track located next to the Johnson Sports Center (313 E. Dewey Ave. in Nampa) on the NNU campus, and will be followed by a ceremonial "first lap" for those in attendance. The dedication is part of a busy weekend on the NNU campus as Friday there will be a luncheon, starting at 11 am, honoring the Warwick family for their generosity in helping bring new bleachers to the Johnson Sports Center. Also, the Crusader baseball team will be in action both days hosting Concordia in the final 4 games of the regular season with the GNAC title and playoff berths at stake. Everyone in attendance at the Bohner Track dedication and the Warwick luncheon, are encouraged to come out and cheer the Crusader baseball team on to victory. First pitch is at 3 pm on Thursday and at noon on Friday. The weekend culminates in graduation ceremonies, which will be held at the Johnson Sports Center on Saturday. Baseball
