Antelope AYSO ~ Select Season Love Soccer?
Want to play at a competitive level? AYSO Select Season – The best way to Play On! The Select Season is a competitive program for Under 10, 12, 14 and 16/19 players. The program is for motivated and enthusiastic players who want to continue playing after the primary season. Players are selected based on interest, ability, attitude, parent participation and coach/board observations. Eligible players must participate in at least 2/3 of the primary season games, including tournament games. Practices start in December and run about 2 hours twice a week. Games are scheduled for Saturdays from the beginning of January through the end of March, with a secondary season April through May for High School Soccer players and Spring Baseball players. About half of the games are home and half as far away as the East Bay Area (Concord, Pleasant Hill) and Davis. Additional practices and tournament play may continue from April through July. The Select Season is a secondary season and teams must cover all of their own expenses. Registration fees for the Select Season are about $100-$150 which includes the uniform and registration fees. Teams generally rent all-weather practice facilities which can be approximately $50 per player per month. Tournaments run between $600 and $700 per team per tournament and the team can decide which and how many tournaments they like—and there are plenty to choose from. Teams are encouraged to solicit sponsors and donations to help with the costs.
