As ע"ש ופריו מתוק לחכי וכמ"ש כריח שדה. תפוחthe Torah states, “like the aroma of the :נן חקל תפוחים והיה בר"ה כידוע ומתרגמיfield,” which is translated as an allusion to apples. And, as is known, this incident occurred on Rosh Hashana.

and he smelled, etc.: Is it not so that there is no odor more offensive than that of washed goat skins? But this teaches us that the fragrance of the Garden of Eden entered with him. וּשֲׁקָ ה לִּ י בְּ נִי: כז .וַיִּ גַּשׁ וַיִּ שַּׁ ק ל ֹו וַ יּ ַָרח אֶ ת ֵריחַ בְּ ג ָָדיו וַ יְבָ רֲ כֵהוּ וַ יֹּאמֶ ר ְראֵ ה ֵריחַ בְּ נִי כְּ ֵריחַ שָׂ ֶדה אֲשֶׁ ר בֵּ רֲ כ ֹו ְיהֹוָ ה:
"come closer and kiss me, my son. 27. And he came closer, and he kissed him, and he smelled the fragrance of his garments, and he blessed him, and he said, "Behold, the fragrance of my son is like the fragrance of a field, which the Lord has !blessed
רש"י בראשית כז:כז – Rashi Genesis 27:27 וירח וגו' :והלא אין ריח רע יותר משטף העזים, אלא מלמד שנכנסה עמו ריח גן עדן:
כריח שדה אשר ברכו ה' :שנתן בו ריח טוב ,וזה שדה תפוחים ,כן דרשו רבותינו ז"ל:
and he smelled, etc.: Is it not so that there is no odor more offensive than that of washed goat skins? But this teaches us that the fragrance of the Garden of Eden entered with him.
