Program Overview: Camino Al Futuro Program is a Summer/Fall Leadership Academy for current Junior High School and High School students from the NYC area. This 18-week program is designed to offer guidance to newcomer Latinos by providing support in the process of understanding how to navigate the higher educational system in the United States. It will help you explore the college research process with an interactive curriculum that will be used both in the classroom and on the college campuses. The curriculum will include workshops and small group sessions on understanding the college research process, admissions requirements, information on college entrance exams, (SAT and ACT) essay tips and financial aid literacy. You will achieve this in two separate sessions: classroom time and on campus research. As a program graduate, you will be certified as “Camino Al Futuro Scholar” which will give you the tools necessary to act as mentor and/or advisor in your school. Students that are admitted are required to attend the entire program every Saturday from June 29th-November 2nd. This 18-week program includes workshops on the following: 1. Team building activities 2. College admissions requirements 3. Essay writing tips 4. Financial aid literacy 5. Interactive College Campus FUN!
