Welcome to Covenant Church We welcome Rev. Rich Loerop as he leads our service this morning. Today is the Fifth Sunday of Lent. Please join us in the Fellowship Hall for refreshments after the service. Large copy LUYH Hymnals are available to those who remain seated as well as bibles. Please ask our ushers for a copy and return them after the service. For those who have a hearing impairment, please speak to one of our sound people at the back of the sanctuary. NEXT WEEK: Pastor Rich Loerop will lead our service. LENT: On this fifth Sunday in Lent, we come to the conclusion of our sermon series dangerous prayer and will focus on the prayer “Use me, Lord” based on Psalm 72. In this prayer, we ask God to not only use us but also to make us usable. In asking God to make us usable we acknowledge that it is his plans we are seeking to accomplish, not our own. We also acknowledge our inadequacy in doing the things of God and our need for his power to help us accomplish his will. The only way we can succeed in furthering God’s kingdom is by the work of God’s power in us. What makes this prayer dangerous to pray is that it thrusts us right into the conflict between God’s kingdom and the world’s kingdoms. “Use me, Lord” prayer is a revolutionary, subversive prayer that costs us nothing less than our lives. A Bible study on Psalm 72 is available for you to pick up in the narthex or you can find it on the church’s website. COVENANT CHURCH FAMILY: As a faith-community may we all be faithful in praying for one another, asking the Lord to strengthen, heal and encourage brothers and sisters in need. Especially think of those along with their care givers who struggle in their daily lives with chronic pain, poor memory or poor mobility. Keep Harry and Anne Wubs in your prayers. Pray for feelings of support and peace as they deal with Harry’s diagnosis of cancer and Anne’s memory loss We remember those within our church family who are cancer survivors, but still struggle through ongoing test and procedures. Who sometimes wait tediously for test results. They value your prayers and support. FROM THE PASTORAL CARE TEAM….. If you would like a visit from the Pastoral Care Team, and you are not already on our list, please let us know.
