What is the difference between Oregon Hockey Inc. and Oregon Ice Arena? Oregon Hockey is also known as Oregon Hockey, Inc. (OHI), a not for profit organization. This is the first full hockey season for OHI, formed in April, 2014 by combining the High School Hockey Boosters and Youth Hockey organizations. OHI is an outcome of a continuing positive progression of hockey in the Oregon community. The home of OHI is at the Oregon Ice Arena at 100 South Perry Parkway, Oregon, WI. Oregon Ice Arena is a separate organization coordinating rink operations such as • rink management • ice maintenance and scheduling • the Oregon Skating School • bringing other programs to the rink like speed skating • managing additional facility use including OASIS and the Angela Drake community room The Oregon Ice Arena would not exist without tremendous effort from many families and organizations within the Oregon community. The next time you are in the rink lobby, look up on the pillars that support our rink to reflect on the names of our founding rink leaders who have paved the road for the opportunity to continue Oregon Hockey. In addition, the many player families and organizations associated with Oregon Hockey are fondly referred to as our Hockey Family, and they are truly the cornerstone to OHI. We are a volunteer run organization, committed to growing the game of hockey by providing a hockey program from youth through high school. Volunteers provide the time, resources, talents and skills needed to enable these programs to exist. Players beginning with Learn To Play at age 5 have the opportunity to play hockey in Oregon for up to 13 years through High School. Many players also join our hockey program between their elementary and middle school years. If your family is involved for one year or up to 13 years, you are continuing the tradition of the Oregon Hockey Family! We look forward to your continued engagement in the hockey program and in our hockey family. You can follow Oregon Hockey Inc. on Facebook or regularly visit oregonhockey.org on the web. Thank you for your past and future support of Oregon Hockey!

A Sincere “Winning” Thank You to the Oregon Ice Melt Volunteers! The summer of 2014 asked volunteers to step up again to a new team role – the Oregon Ice Melt. The game was geared to keeping our rink well maintained. The ask was enormous, containing a very large learning curve, with many surprise slap shots for our parent volunteers, boards, and rink manager to defend against. Once again, the Oregon fans and volunteer teams have stepped up to produce a strong offense to meet the rink maintenance needs. We are on a solid path to another Oregon win! Thank you to our Rink Manager, Nik Haley and Oregon Ice Rink board member, Mark Miller for a 24/7 power play. The Oregon Hockey family sincerely appreciates all that you have done for the rink!

Save the Dates:

There are an enormous number of additional “Thanks You’s” to the families and friends of the Oregon Ice Rink for moving this project/game to our offensive zone, taking the shots on goal, and scoring for the Oregon team. The additional game highlights include:

• REGISTRATION is going on NOW! • Beginning Sept. 29th tryouts for Squirt to Bantam levels • October 18th – Bob Vanko Family Picnic

Every hour volunteered has brought the Oregon Ice Rink closer to the season opener win – a refreshed Oregon Ice Rink. Thank you to all the volunteers that came to the rink on weeknights and weekends, taking your shift on line 1, 2 or 3 in the game. Great teamwork!

Thank you to our two boards, Oregon Ice Rink and Oregon Hockey for coordinating the resources and talents at the rink and behind the scenes to create the game plan and make adjustments throughout the past month.

There are multiple MVP’s in the game – from parents contributing multiple weekends and evening hours, donating materials, to engaging their business for the benefit of the rink. A late third period game winning goal was scored by a Bantam hockey family offering to replace locker room drywall and complete multiple large painting projects.

A sincere thank you and appreciation to all the families and friends for maintaining a great community facility, the Oregon Ice Rink.

Looking for ways to reduce your dues? Dues reduction fundraising opportunities are available to all families: • Bucky Book - $15.00 for every book sold goes back to the skater as a dues reduction. • Holiday Wreaths - This is for door to door sales opportunity to sell wreaths through October, with a November delivery. • Scrip Gift Card Purchases -Scrip is a program that enables participants to purchase prepaid cards and gift cards that are used just like cash at area merchants. Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything. • Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, and gasoline and much more, can be purchased with Scrip. For more information see www.orgeonhockey.org – choose OHI and Youth hockey, select dues reduction. Remember to: bring all Bill's Food Center Receipts to the Rink and drop them off at the concession stand. Bill's Food Center will donate 1% of Receipt totals back to the OIA. Thank you in advance for supporting the rink!
