Asante Ministries Canada New Years 2014

Happy New Year Everyone! Is it just me or is it rather odd that is 2014 already?! Where has the time gone!? I hope winter hasn't been too crazy for most people or if it has, hopefully you're like me, and in enough denial to make it through to spring! The longer days are definitely a blessing! We've had our AGM last week and out of that we've got some exciting news to relay to all of our amazing sponsors (that's you of course!) We'll bring you up to speed on the trials and triumph’s over the past year and ask that you continue to pray and seek God for wisdom, guidance, and opportunities as we carry on in 2014.

Learning the art of shoe making.

One of my favourite verses is Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do no depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will direct your paths. Truer words have yet to be spoken or more applicable in every circumstance life has to offer. New school uniforms!

Christmas Gifts

It’s drum time!

Over this past Christmas season we were able to raise over 3,000 dollars! With the contributions of generous people like yourselves we were able to raise money towards goats, sewing machines, cooking pans, new school uniforms and bags of rice to feed entire families for a month!! Thank you so much from all of us here at Asante, without your generosity we wouldn't be able to bless and support the many women and children in need!

Choir Tour Update We have lots of information to bring you up to speed on. We were originally planning to have the choir tour start this month but last summer we ran into a roadblock when a sudden change in government policy meant that the choir we were planning to bring here wouldn't be allowed to come. Since then we've been working hard to continue to build trusting relationships with governments on both sides. We have now been granted permission to bring a choir to Canada for 5 months beginning in September 2014 through to February 2015. We are now hard at work gathering and organizing all the necessary paperwork for the visas needed for the choir children and their chaperones. Karen, Asante's chief administrator, is busy booking churches across Western Canada including North Western Ontario for the tour this fall. To date we have 18 confirmed churches! We are planning a loop starting and ending in Winnipeg, plus a jaunt to Thunder Bay and back! We will be driving west along the number 1 highway to Vancouver and coming back through Kamloops and highway 16 from Edmonton. If you would like to host the choir at your church or know of a church that could potentially host please contact the pastor, and then please contact Karen at [email protected]. We have better success with bookings if churches are contacted first by people who know them, then by us just calling them out of the blue. Please check out our website at www.asantecanada.org, click on “Asante Children’s Choir” and then "Sneak Peek” of what we, with your support, are doing in the lives of children. 2

Choir Tour Chaperones We are also seeking choir tour chaperones. If you are any age, love children and want to explore Western Canada for 5 months please prayerfully consider becoming a chaperone. As a chaperone you would travel, live, teach, eat and pray with the children and meet all sorts of amazing people on this journey. Please visit our website www.asantecanada.org to find out more about the tour and the opportunity of volunteering as a chaperone. You can download the application form by going to our website click on the heading “Asante Children’s Choir” and then “Volunteer.”

Psst..don’t you want to live with us?!

If you'd like to be a part of the tour, but can't chaperone, we are still in need of people to assist with the logistics of the tour. Examples of positions needed are; housing coordinator and assistants, promotion and advertising. You do not need to live in Winnipeg in order to volunteer; a phone and a computer will be just fine! Please contact Doug at [email protected] if you are interested in any of the above positions or want to assist in any way!

Daily Business You should have all received your tax receipts in the mail, if not they are on their way. If yours does NOT have your middle initial on it, please email us your full name INCLUDING your middle initial and we will email you a revised tax receipt. We will not be mailing new copies. The middle initial is now a requirement of Canada Revenue. Please email us at [email protected] with your updated contact information or visit us at www.asantecanada.org click on "Name Update Form," fill it out and send it back to us. If you move, change your phone number or email address please contact us. It allows us to keep you up to date on Asante and your sponsored child. If you'd like to make a one time donation for your sponsor child (ie. birthday) you can contact us and the amount can be added to your credit card, or you can mail a cheque to Asante Ministries Canada 71 Leisure Bay Winnipeg, MB R2Y 0W9 Thank you from all of us here at Asante Ministries Canada, Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda.
