Maths Key Messages Regular work at home • MyMaths homework: aim to get all exercises green. • Attempt 15 mins of Maths every day.

Changes to Maths Curriculum examples • Foundation: trigonometry, mean from group frequency, Venn diagrams • Higher: trapezium rule, knowledge and application of SIN, COS, TAN graphs, iteration

Revision in Mathematics • Mental calculation e.g. times tables • The best way to revise in Mathematics is by practicing GCSE questions. • The GCSE questions should be on topics causing difficulty not on ones where students are confident. • Remembering the meaning of key words for a particular unit is vital as invigilators are not able to explain the meaning of key words in the examination. • Students will be told the minimum grade required in the Year 10 summer examination. If they do not achieve this grade a re-sit will be necessary. DO NOT let that be you.

Core Science GCSE • 3 exams – Biology 17/5/16 - Chemistry 19/5/16 - Physics 25/5/16 • ISA (Coursework) worth 25% • Most students have already completed this • End of term exams throughout the course • Pre Public Exams in March (Exact date TBC) • Revision sessions will start in the spring term

What the students said • Current Year 11s were asked what advice they would give new year 10s – 1- Lots of revision 2 - Concentrate in lessons 3 - Make revision notes as you go along 4 - Make a revision plan • Revision Guides (£4) and course books (£10) are available from the science department • Please encourage your children to create a good working environment – no phones, somewhere quiet, no TV on, little and often!
