All ASWSU paid positions require that students be eligible to work in the United States, so you will be asked to provide appropriate employment documents if applicable. If you are applying for a seat on the ASWSU Judicial Board: Associated Students of Washington State University ASWSU Justice Must act in compliance with the ASWSU Constitution & By-laws and be responsible to and representative of the needs and viewpoints of the students of WSU. Job Duties: Work to implement the goals and directives of ASWSU. Have a working knowledge of the ASWSU Constitution & By-laws. Attend all ASWSU Judicial Board hearings and meetings as directed by the Chief Justice of ASWSU. Render decisions on the cases brought before the Judicial Board in a timely manner as required by the ASWSU Constitution. Work to uphold a positive image of the Judicial Board and the Association. Qualifications/Requirements: Ability to work under tight deadlines Organization Responsible A basic knowledge of Roberts Rules of Order and Parliamentary Procedure An undergraduate student who meets the Association’s GPA requirements In addition, please answer these questions and return them with your application: Please list and explain previous positions held/experiences that you feel would qualify you for a place on the Judicial Board. Please write in your own words, the role of the Judicial Board in ASWSU. Do you feel that you can be fair and unbiased at all times? Please explain why. Finally, please render your opinion in these “cases”. Hypothetical Judicial Board Case #1 A Residence Hall and/or Greek senator was found to be living in an off-campus apartment outside of his/her district. The Pro-Tempore, per his/her duties outlined in the by-laws, filed a grievance against this senator. The senator has made strong arguments that since the constituency had no objections to the arrangement; he/she is not in violation of the Constitution/By-laws. The Pro-Tempore has argued that since the senator was physically not living in his/her district, he/she is in violation of the Constitution/By-laws. The Judicial Board has heard both sides of the argument. Please write your opinion as if writing the majority opinion in the decision. Hypothetical Judicial Board Case #2 Grade checks have come back on all ASWSU officials from Student Affairs. One senator on the list was reported as not having a sufficient GPA to hold ASWSU office. The Pro-Tempore, per his/her duties in the By-laws, has brought this senator before the Judicial Board to answer the charge. The senator in question has provided copies of his/her transcripts to the Judicial Board and, upon review of the documents, this senator was found to have had a sufficient GPA until this last semester. The senator has requested that he/ she be given a probationary term in order to set his/her grades straight. The Judicial Board has heard both sides of the argument. Please write your opinion as if writing the majority opinion in the decision.

Sit on one Senate standing committee. Qualifications/Requirements: Ability to work under tight deadlines Organization Ability to project trends in planning and development of events Responsible A basic knowledge of Roberts Rules of Order and Parliamentary Procedure An undergraduate student who meets the Association’s GPA requirements If you are applying to become an ASWSU Committee Chair: Associated Students of Washington State University ASWSU Committee Chair Must act in compliance with the ASWSU Constitution & By-laws and be responsible to and representative of the needs and viewpoints of the students of WSU. Job Duties: Be appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate Participate in the ASWSU Budget Process each spring Attend all Committee Squared Meetings (or send a representative) Participate in Fall Goal setting and Spring Evaluations Attend the ASWSU Retreat Hold by-monthly meetings of your committee Qualifications/Requirements: Be appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate Have been an active member of your committee for at least a semester An undergraduate student who meets the Association’s GPA requirements Work to uphold a positive image of the Senate and the Association.
