Competitive Meet News Mosby Woods vs. Sully Station (AT MOSBY WOODS) Saturday, July 22, 2017
Meet Sign-Up - please take the time to review the attached meet sheet entry for your child’s name. THERE HAVE BEEN CHANGES AND NEW NAMES ADDED. Some swimmers are aged up, so please don’t assume just your age group. If your child is scheduled to swim, and you do not think you can come, please let Coach Aubrey know ASAP. It will allow us time to provide that swimming opportunity to another swimmer. Last minute scratching of swimmers causes stress not only for those
scrambling to find names, but for our swimmers to jump in unplanned. If you are scheduled to swim the relay, plan to stay.
Arrival: All swimmers please plan to arrive by 7:50 am and check in with Raider Dude. Please do not warm up until you have checked in. Warmups begin promptly at 8:00 am. The parking lot is reserved for our visiting team.
Food Donations are requested for Home Meets Thank you to all who
have made our snack bar a success. For this last meet, we are requesting donations of fresh fruit, doughnuts, bagels and muffins. Please click on to https://mosbywoods.swimtopia.com/snack-bar-contribution-sign-up, to see how you can help. Your donations are appreciated.
Mosby Woods vs Sully Station Volunteers: Do not forget to wear your
sporty navy blue shorts & white shirt. If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact Diane Monnig at
[email protected]. All volunteers please arrive by 8:15 am. job_name

Developmental Meet News By Christine Curry:
[email protected] Next Monday, July 24th is our last Developmental meet of the season. Thank you to all the parent volunteers that have made these meets so successful this season. Monday's meet is the IM Carnival hosted by Mantua, located at 9330 Pentland Place, Fairfax, VA 22031. This is another meet where all the B Meet League pools come together to participate and gives swimmers the opportunity to swim the IM (Individual Medley). The IM puts all skills to work in one race, which includes the four swimming strokes. IM is swum in this order: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. If you're not sure if your child can swim all four strokes, please check with the coaches. Please register your swimmer by 4 pm Sunday at www.mosbywoods.swimtopia.com. The order of events can be found on our website. Register is open! Please arrive at the pool no later than 5:00pm. I am sending a separate email to those parents who have registered to volunteer at this meet. This is usually a fast meet and should be done by 8:00. We are still in need of 1 Clerk of Course. If you are available to volunteer, please sign up on www.mosbywood.swimtopia.com. Volunteers should arrive at the time designated next to their position. Please remember to wear blue shorts and a white shirt. If you have any questions, please contact me directly at
[email protected] or (919) 842-0758. Thank you, Christine Curry Position

NVSL News by Julia Hughes:
[email protected] Reminder to have your swimmer at the pool and checked in with Raider Dude as soon as you arrive at Mosby Woods-warm-ups begin at 8:00 sharp! This is our FINAL dual and home meet of the 2017 swim season and, as such, we will honor our seniors at the relay break! Next Saturday, July 29 is our Division 6 Championship meet. Coaches have been asking swimmers what they’d like to swim. We take our top two swimmers for each stroke, plus the IM. We always cross our fingers that other teams cannot fill their lanes, giving us an opportunity to take more swimmers. Stay tuned for more information in coming days and please make sure to indicate your swimmer’s availability on Swimtopia. Weather! A couple of quick notes...If it rains or is ridiculously hot and humid, the meet goes on! In either instance, plan accordingly with rain gear/tarps or an insane amount of liquids to hydrate your swimmer AND you! If, however, there is thunder or lightning, the pool deck will close and you will be asked to wait in your cars until the meet can safely resume. This is the case whether the meet is home or away. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE! Our team is depending on your swimmer! Coach Aubrey will send word via Twitter and Remind to keep us abreast of timing to return to the pool deck.
Treasurer Notes by Dena Imbergamo:
[email protected] If you received an email regarding payment, you can drop the check in the mailbox outside of the pool or hand it to me directly. Email me with any questions or concerns,

Guppy News by Eliza Selander:
[email protected] This is the Guppies' final week of practice for 2017. Come to the Lollipop Meet and Pancake Breakfast on Sunday morning--warm ups are at 8:30 a.m. If you'd like your child to participate in this meet but haven't registered yet, email Eliza at
[email protected]. Thanks so much to our wonderful Guppy coaches, Marin and Joe!
Coach’s Corner Dear Raider Families, Can you believe the end is already in sight? Where did the one go? Coming up this Friday we will have our final spirit night of the season. We will be handing out paper plate awards so as to cut down on the length of our banquet. We hope to see you there!! Saturday is our final home meet and our opportunity to celebrate our Seniors! Coach Samantha and Coach Sarah will be honored for their effort, energy and spirit during their time as Raiders! Please come help us send them off to college in style! Sunday is our Lollipop Meet at Mosby Woods for our younger Raiders and Guppies and Monday is IM carnival at Mantua. If your child wants to try an IM (a 100 meter race where they swim a 25 each of fly, back, breast and free), please make sure to get them registered! Next week is Divisionals week- the meet sheet is coming soon. All Raiders are welcome to continue attending practice (sorry Guppies, unfortunately your season will have ended). Please note that we will be focusing on accurate strokes/starts/turns/finishes and speed. These practices will be geared towards giving our kiddos their best chance at their last meet. Divisionals is also their only opportunity to qualify for individual all stars! As always please let us know if you have any questions- I know this is a lot of information for new and returning families alike! Just keep swimming,
