Awards and Trophies TOT has six annual awards that it formally presents to the recipients during the annual banquet. Three awards are based on team results - the playoff champions are presented with the Ken Riggs Memorial award; the playoff runners-up are presented with the aptly named Playoff Runners-up trophy; and, the regular season champions are presented with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 329 award. The three remaining awards are based on voting from all league members the most improved player is presented with the Mike Ellis Memorial trophy; the individual providing a significant contribution to the league is presented with the Diamond trophy; and, the team best exemplifying the values of the league are presented with the Nellie trophy. In addition, each team elects one player that is acknowledged as their most sportsmanlike player for best exemplifying the values of the Tottenham Oldtimers (sportsmanship, friendship and fair play).
Ken Riggs Memorial Award Named after one of the original team captains from 1986, Ken Riggs was an ambassador of the TOT core values (sportsmanship, friendship and fair play) who lost his battle with cancer in the early years of the league. Nellie Award Named after Nelson "Nellie" Madore, who lost his battle with cancer in 1991. Shortly prior to his passing, a special evening for Nellie's 65th birthday was organized by Brian Duggan and Wayne Burnie and part of the evening was used to introduce a new trophy into the league called "The Nellie Award'. This award is received annually by the team best exemplifying the core values of the Tottenham Oldtimers (sportsmanship, friendship and fair play). Besides the Ken Riggs Memorial playoff championship, the Nellie is the award most coveted by teams.

The following was submitted to the TOT web site by Ron "Bucky" Buxton in October 2011 as the backstory behind the dedication of the Nellie award. Thanks to Bucky for telling the story.
"Nellie was a real good guy who was one of the elder statesman of the league at the time (we both played first base and he loved to tease me about how much better adept he was than me), his son-in-law (Al Lord) informed us that he was going through a rough period due to his cancer and that was why we decided to have a special night for him in order to help raise his spirits. Brian Duggan had one of our league members make up the individual "NELLIE" letters (24" - 30" high), we booked the upstairs of the legion, I suppose it was me who ordered the trophy and Al Lord was given
the task of making sure Nelson got there under the guise of celebrating my birthday. There was a real good turn-out from the league and once we were able to get Nellie away from the pool table downstairs (he loved playing pool) Brian Duggan, the emcee for the evening, had him come forward to present me with the cake. Nellie didn't bother to read the inscription (about him of course) but instead went through the usual blather about "Bucky, on behalf of the Tottenham Oldtimers, I'd like to present you with this cake", that's when I told him to stop and informed him the night was all about him and not me and to prove it I read the inscription to him. We had six members come to the front and hold up the six individual letters and explaining what each letter stood for, the trophy was shown to Nelson and the audience explaining that commencing that year it would be presented annually to the team that best exemplified the good qualities of the Tottenham Oldtimers League. We gave Nellie a bit of a "roast" and, following his rebuttal, we asked him to accept the honour of being the first to play the brand new organ that Billy Zerback had just donated to the Legion, Brian (who had brought his guitar) joined him and the two of them belted out some tunes for us. It was a great night, one that I'll remember for the rest of my life, I think we showed Nelson how much the league thought of him, unfortunately it wasn't too much longer after that when he passed away."
The Jamie McClean Memorial Diamond Award This award is presented annually to an individual making a significant contribution to the league as nominated by their peers. Named in memory of Jamie McClean, who passed away suddenly in March 2015. Jamie was a long-time member playing from the late 1980s through to the 2013 season. Jamie's contributions to the league have been instrumental to our success, serving as a long-time captain and being voted to our executive committee in 2008, culminating as league president from 2011-2013. Jamie was recognized for his accomplishments in 2009 as a recipient of this trophy. Jamie displayed a passion for both the sport and our league at all times and his leadership on and off the field was exceptional.
