front line of defense against seasonal threats, boredom, lack of motivation, and seasonal doldrums. Smart Moms are always on the offensive, and having your plan to combat all of your children’s needs will ease the stress of those everyday needs and emergencies that pop up in our lives. Though a

responsible adult should always be in control of the oil cabinet, it is

nevertheless empowering to teach kids about essential oils and let them learn with you about how their health and wellness can be improved by simply everyday usage. Here are a few tips for reclaiming

control during the school year:

HAND CLEANSING GEL

FOCUS BOOKMARKS

Though traditional hand-washing is always preferred, on-the-go busy kiddos often are stuck without a great option for cleaning their hands, so pop this in their backpack or gym bag and keep one in the car as well! It also makes a great gift for teachers! It will also help to support their immune system throughout the year.

time staying on track either in the classroom or during the homework hour, try some aromatherapy solutions with essential oils. DIY your own bookmarks to tuck in their backpack with strips of leather or extra-thick cardstock. Use an X-acto knife to cut it into your desired shape and decorate with washi essential oils and let the aroma boost their mood and improve focus and concentration. Try the Mental Alertness Diffuser Blend for an easy solution, or a simple favorite for uplifting mood and sharpening focus is Get focused Diffuser Blend. If you have single oils, try any citrus oil mixed with a mint, like Wild Orange and Peppermint or Spearmint.

PRINCESS PERFUME OR DRAGON SLAYER ROLLERBALLS Whatever hero dominates the halls of your home, their favorite essential oils can help them to find the calm in the storms of life. Associating an aroma with a sense of calm and teaching them accompanying deep-breathing exercises or to squeeze and release their fists can help their princess spirit return or slay the dragon brewing inside. Take a glass rollerball bottle and fill it almost to the top with Fractionated Coconut Oil or another favorite carrier oil. Let your kiddos sniff some oils until they find the one that they like the best. Suggestions for great calming oils include Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Frankincense, Patchouli, or blends like Stress Relief and Overwhelm Be Gone blends. They may also prefer citrus oils such as Wild Orange and the Instant Energy blend for an uplifting aroma. Have them apply it to their favorite pulse point (wrist, ankles, behind their ears, over their hearts) and slowly inhale and exhale.

NIGHTTIME DIFFUSING By the end of the day, many kids need to relax and unwind in order to release the excitement from their exploration of learning. A nighttime essential oil routine can greatly help your family to avoid the bedtime shuffle. Try one of these tricks below to add a new element to support evening calm.

a tub of warm water and add a few drops of Lavender or Ylang Ylang essential oil, or try the Bath Soak Recipe with the Relax and Restore blend in chapter #8. Swirl and bathe your kids as you normally would, allowing them to spend a little extra time enjoying the water.

– While the kids are in the tub, pop their towels in the dryer on a low setting and add a drop of Lavender, Ylang Ylang, or Vetiver essential oil to a wool dryer ball or a damp wash cloth. Let it tumble and spread the scent. When they emerge from the water, wrap their bodies in warmth and allow the aromatherapy to do its trick.

– If your littles cling to their favorite stuffed animals or blankies, try adding a drop of Lavender essential oil directly on them before bedtime to support a restful night’s sleep. If your kids are older, just add a drop to their pillow or bedclothes before bed or when changing the sheets. Sometimes Lavender is a bit too floral, so opt for the lighter Ylang Ylang or for a powerful punch, try some Vetiver.

– There is nothing quite like the soft hum of a diffuser as it fills the air with powerful essential oils that can support your family while they sleep. For a calming blend, try Lavender and Vetiver, or the Sleepy Time Diffuser Blend. Sometimes it may take a few tries to determine the right amount of drops to add or the right oils for your family, but once you do, you will be supported into dreamland.
