Anita Goodesign Bargellissimo Quilt Premium Edition Design Pack. G Purchase this pack as soon as possible. It will help you prepare for the class. G The design we will be doing is the Genoa. There are 12 colors in this design.

Purchase Fabric G Pictures of the design begin on page 103 of the design book. G Yardage amounts are listed on page 109 at ½ yard for each color. While there are 12 colors total, the design works on the interplay between the values of two sets of 6. G For a better understanding of what I am talking about please review the images between pages 106 and 108. G For my class sample I chose to highlight a relationship between green and purple and I capitalized on this by using varying hues like the example on page 106. G Best advice pick two colors you like e.g. red/black, blue/yellow, yellow/green, etc. G Take your color of greatest value of each of those two colors and work backwards in value through the 6 colors ending on something rather neutral between the two primary colors. G I took 20 bolts of fabric and laid them overlapping on the cut table and put them in an order until I saw the transition that I was looking for while paring it down to 12.

Fabric laid out on cut table and put in order. G Furthermore, it’s a good idea, at this point, to use your cell phone to take a picture of the order in which the fabrics are laid out. You can refer to this photo in class.

Fabric Amount G Half-yard of each of your 12 chosen fabrics.

Photo take by cell phone.

Two Rolls Floriani No Show Mesh Cutaway Stabilizer G This is the NON-fusible variety. G I prefer the beige color no show mesh because when you get to sewing the strips together it will make it easier to find your bobbin thread and tends to not distort your fabric color the way white or black does. G I used one short and one tall and neither gave me an advantage in relation to waste.

Thread G Bobbin Thread (Best Practice: buy the bobbin thread your machine manufacturer recommends) G Embroidery Thread: I used black on top and white underneath. These threads won’t be seen in the finished quilt. However, it is just good practice to use thread in the same color family as your fabric color. G Though the design has four or five color choices I found you only need two colors: one to stitch with and one telling color; like red, lime green something that will tell you this is your cut line.

Rotary Cutting Tools G Rotary Cutter and two new blades. G Rotary Ruler for Cutting Strips G OPTIONAL: iif you’ve been looking for a reason to buy a strip ruler, this is a good time. I use the Martelli strip rulers, but there are other strip rulers that perform competently.

Can of KK2000 Read the Book Lastly, read the book with the design pack a couple of times. It will become very clear how everything goes together as we begin stitching. Should you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to call the shop 940.382.4118 and ask for Dave or email me directly at [email protected]

Have a beautiful day and I’m looking forward to seeing you in class!
